Will you return to Final Fantasy XI?

I have played Final Fantasy XI since the PS2 release, and I enjoyed it. I quit back in 2009 once I heard about Final Fantasy XIV. Although I enjoy playing FFXIV and the people with whom I play, I was wondering what would you guys do if FFXIV was unable advance for most of the players who have high expectations. Would you return to FFXI?

Unless SE fixed everything they screwed up with abysea... there is simply no reason to go back.

I also quit FFXI for FFXIV. I still don't regret it.

I may be contradicting myself, but I quit FFXI right when Abyssea came out. I never got to experience the content and for some reason I felt breaking the 75 cap was ruining the game I remembered. Sometimes I'll drop in and watch a FFXI stream and I still feel that way.

I miss what FFXI was, but before the dropped interest in leveling and other content since I joined in at a late age when almost no one did certain story/battle content much. I liked what there was and what we had to do for it to an extent. Currently I find FFXI has turned too far easy mode.

Or maybe I just wanted something different, which is what I'm hoping to achieve finding in FFXIV.

I would not. I had a good fun run with FFXI and have many memories of my time there. That said, if FFXIV bombs out (as in the servers shut down) I would probably stick with single player games for awhile. Skyrim is set to be out later this year which is excellent.

Age of Conan fixed most of the things that were wrong with it back when it released. Granted it was bugs and memory leaks rather than design but I digress. Even though AoC fixed their game the ones burned at the start still say the game is crap and a failure. No doubt the jaded FFXIV players will feel and say the same.

SE can fix the game, it will just be a question of how much time it will take, and if they wish to do so. In the mean time I work on my character and play Minecraft when I run out of leves or need a break from it.

I sometimes wonder if the main draw to FFXI was that you could do 'nothing' without a group. It seems to me the forced socialization went along way in forming tight friendships, but I digress again.

Short answer: Nope, I will find other things to play from here on.

i quit back in August of 2010 and i been debating on returning to FFXI the past 2 days actually >_>

theyve done a great job of ruining the game w/ abyssea and emp weapons/armor and making everything no challenge i quit w/ all jobs at 90 and Kenkonken and Verth and +2 war/mnk/pup emp armor and i couldnt even give away my character lol. i damn near soloed a kanaga on pup/mnk. i mean /mnk sub lol in 2 weeks just goes to show u how lame the game has become. at this point im being sold w/ diablo 3 and tera. as pretty as ff14 was sold to be its very behind in almost every aspect.

i'd say to everyone dont be sold so easy next time SE promises to deliver they've gave us nothing but unfinished crap for years now.

What did they screw up with Abyssea? My interpretation of Abyssea is that it's making a dead game playable, for long after its death.
