a dead DD it's a DD useless, a DD that take too much damage and burn your healer mana it's useless DD, a DD that burn him TP and are unable to dps it's useless too...

the damage output is not everything. a DD jobs is far more than simply big number on a parseer.... do you need BFB, depend of the fight, some fight it's at avoid, because you will take damage and it will jeopardize your survivability. on other fight, where you have large time, where.... normally...you don't take it, you can use it and must use it.

anyway, you need invigorate then you can grab BFB on the way, however it will depend of you and only you to know when you can or cannot use it.

Just because you have it, doesn't mean you must use it whenever its up. In some fights, there's certain times when you just shouldn't/can't BFB...but there are times in every fight where you can, and should, use it.

Don't MNK have worse TP issues than DRG at high ilevels? They need Invigorate in long fights or they get to sit and AA for a while...which is not a good thing for a DPS

10% extra damage is 10% extra damage. Every little bit matters.

Sorry, I framed my question improperly. I absolutely fully intend to get BFB, my question was one of prioritization.

My monk is only 43, but has a relic oil, 1110 mytho, a full suit of DL + CT helm waiting (and garuda claws but who cares) - which obviously isn't that great. I can do EX Primals, Ultima, Coil, CT, and farm Myth with my finite play time each week to make him more powerful, or I can spend 2 days getting LNC to 34 for BFB. My assumption was that my time was better spent doing those things until I get closer to my glass ceiling (coil group limitations, weekly caps) as opposed to spending my time leveling LNC and potentially not getting one of those things done in the coming weeks (probably would skip EX Primals/Ultima).

I am not and will not be a lazy dps that doesn't do the right things because its a pain : D Obviously a 10% damage increase on CD is great, and I can see the applications overlaying that with other abilities (or not) already.

Turn 1: Use it everytime it's up
Turn 2: on the random ADS, but not for the boss.
Turn 3: Use it.. whatever...
Turn 4: At start when AoE so it's up on the mid-boss at midfight after the soldiers. Then whenever it's up except at the end on last mob to avoid AoE.
Turn 5: on Prison and Twintania. Try to have it up for the giant snake boss.

Garuda: Use it often
Titan: Depending on your latency, mostly on adds too (Extreme) (i'd rather not use it at all on Titan).
Ifrit: On Pillars

One things to know also, is when to remove the effect.

Get your lancer to 34 and get B4B it's a good dps skill, you can avoid taking the extra damage by using B4B together with defensive skill like keen flurry or featherfoot. You can always right click to turn off the buff when you know there is going to be incoming damage, but you should have no problem surviving unavoidable damage with the buff on unless you take unnecessary avoidable damage.

Last time I check, MNKs have a similar defensive attributes. or even higher than BRDs, and yet, I don't seem to have any problem or give a problem to our Healers when I pop up BfB during the last phase of T4.
