Yes, I just tested this to see if anything's changed. But no, it still works this way, just like it has since release.

It's because, like I said, macros don't do anything special that the spell itself doesn't do. The placeholders just let you define an end target other than your actual target. But the behavior doesn't change when you cast on that end target.

If you're targeting an enemy and hit Cure (without a macro), you'll cure yourself. If your end target, whether it's <tt> or <t> or <mo> or <square>, is an enemy, you'll cure yourself. Just like casting the spell "on" that target.
