    Sleep resist and how it works!

    So I have spent about 12,500 marks on sleep resist to see how it works. As it already states when you mouse over the sleep resist it says shortens duration. I qued into my friends in 4s and tested 5 sleep resist (just food HQ) tested then 10 sleep resist (5 melded sleep resist) and 15 sleep resist (melded and food HQ).

    NO resist : First sleep last 30 seconds then 15 then 8
    05 resist : First sleep lasts 28 seconds then 14 then 7
    10 resist : first sleep lasts 27 seconds then 13 then 6
    15 resist : first sleep last 25 seconds then 12 then 6

    With all this data I found that the Number of resist you have is the % of the durations lowered. So with that if i had 22 resist i would take away 22% of the duration of each sleep that is the baseline of it.

    Very interesting find. I would imagine the other resists working the same way then possibly. Thanks for the info.

    Sleep resist definitely helps, but it's not enough. If a healer slots every guaranteed socket in their PvP armor for sleep resist, they would only have 22 resist. If you add 2 more sockets for their weapon + food, it would be 31 resist. Assuming the game uses the standard rules for rounding, the 2nd sleep would still be 10 seconds (potentially fatal), and the first non-DR sleep without purify would be 21 seconds (definitely fatal).

    I was hesitant to call sleep overpowered at release, but now that people have high ranks/gear/experience... I think it's safe to say sleep is a bit too strong. A max duration of 20 seconds seems more appropriate.

    7 pieces that can have +4 each. 7x4=28 + 5 from HQ food = 33 maxed. As for is it worth? I feel sleeps duration would need a nerf to make it amazing. Still nonetheless 33% reduced time being asleep is better then none.

    Belt only has 1 guaranteed slot, but I'm sure you could +4 it if you were willing to overmeld.

    Why does everyone forget about Sleep Ward potions? If you have 33 baseline resist with melds + HQ food, you'll be at 53 with a HQ Sleep Ward.

    Over 50% reduction is nothing to scoff at. If you Purify the first sleep and pop a potion before the 2nd sleep hits you will spend a max of 10s slept over the next minute.



    With 13 meldable pieces equipped (one hand wep + offhand) and 5 possible melds in each you could hypothetically reach 65 resist before food (unless there are caps on each item). Add on some food and pots and you're at 90% duration reduction. I'm not saying a sane person would actually fully overmeld a one slot item but I've seen min/maxers with fully melded Grade IV materia in everything. And that was before the price of materia plummetted.
