Aggro meters mean nothing when you have classes who split aggro between player and pet, classes who use aggro reducing skills, etc.

I know that, and understand your point. This game provides you with no detail too how you are doing besides agro meters unfortunately (if they do I would appreciate directions .

With that said though If you are second to the tank in agro in a 8 man group above the other tank, and healers the entire time I would expect a decent DPS score as a DPS class with out increased enmity skills. Am I wrong for thinking this? Maybe I should just get/try a parser?

get a parser if you wish to improve your performance. It may not accurately show everyone's DPS, but you will see increases in your DPS when they happen. worth your time and effort
