I wonder if perhaps not only will we finally get Musketeer but perhaps we will get to help Merlwyb win the next Trident race? Maybe that's how the primal Leviathan gets introduced to us (because his appearance is hindering Merlwyb's ability to win the race?)

Darn it, now I'll be pondering all this for the next hour. However, a few more things that has me excited is what Louisoix's words said:
    • "Lances of Light herald the dawn" - Could it be that the Knights of Ishgard are finally going to open their doors and join the alliance?
    • "Beckoning shadows deeper still" - Again, a reference to that "other" fracton of Ascians? (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here)
    • "Splendor Dances with shades" - This one got me racking my brains for a long while... but could it be a reference to Ninja job class?
    • "Unsheathed, a rime kissed blade" - Rime is a type of frost; thus could be the blade of a Ninja or another reference to Ishgard finally deciding to stop sitting on their hands?
    • "Spills crimson o'er fields of white" - That seems like an obvious refernce to the Coerthas region

Yeah, brand me thoroughly excited... can't wait till the next patch.

    • "Splendor Dances with shades" - this one can talk of ishgard itself, manipulate by the ascien.

    • "Spills crimson o'er fields of white" - someone gonna die in coerthas, maybe the archbishop seems the best for make ishgard to move.

"Lances of Light herald the dawn"

    "Beckoning shadows deeper still"

    "Splendor Dances with shades"

    "Unsheathed, a rime kissed blade"

"Spills crimson o'er fields of white"

This is definately something to do with Ishgardian lore or.

The entire thing speaks of Halone.

Lances of Light are her symbol. Three lances etched into the rune. The beckoning shadows may have something to do with the Dravarian assault on Ishgar. Rime, as mentioned is something to do with Ice, which is Halone's element, and Coethras is an area covered in sheets of white Snow.

So some major Coerthas add on is coming centered around the followers of Halone.

Based on the two quotes and the digging around, that is the base of the conclusion I can come up with.

So along with the Lord of Whorls, we may be getting more Dragon related events perhaps, or another attack on Coerthas by the Ascien.

As for new classes, I'm seriously hoping the Musketeer becomes a new playable class, though with a guild, they aren't going to be a Job like I originally thought...which leads to the question, if Musketeer is the Class what would their job be?

Actually there is Gunner, Machinists, and Corsair being the 3 known jobs in FF series that use Guns as their main weapon.

    Corsair is introduced in FF11

    but

Gunner and Machinists are older Gun user Jobs in FF series

Gunner first appeared in FF7 as Vincent's Job in this game

Machinists first appeared in FF4 as Cid's Job in the game

As interesting as it was in FFX-2, Gun Mage was just a Blue Mage with a gun since Gun Mage is the Blue Mage of FFX-2.

Are you talking about the samething?

I'm talking about the Gunblade class in general. Not NPCs and event skins that don't even function as a actual gunblade.

the Sword skin from Lightning event is just called a gunblade but it is not a gunblade used by the GunBlade class.

Gaius is a Gunblade user but that is because the Gunblade Class Guild is located in Garlean Empire which means we won't see gunblade class for a while.

    They... Never said this... Musketeer is already plastered around Limsa Lominsa, and new craft? Blacksmith will be making Guns, this is taken directly from Blacksmiths page on the official site;
Limsa Lominsa has been renowned for its blacksmithing tradition since antiquity, though the advanced metallurgical techniques passed on today bear little resemblance to the simple practices of ancient times. The relatively recent birth of firearms has created an entirely new area of expertise which is being adopted with fervor by many ambitious smiths.
Musketeer has absolutely nothing to do with the Empire. Gun<insert other weapon type here>s on the other hand...

Have you even been to Limsa Lominsa? Like half of the NPCs use guns, the ARM50 quest cutscene involves
Merlwyb shooting people wearing the armour you and another member of the armourers' guild crafted to compare the quality.

The Musketeer Guild Recuit table are currently empty because they're not recuiting members into their Guild yet Lore wise.

ok some story, since you seems to miss the point, Musketeer was indeed a class planned in the V1 when tanaka was the head behind FF14, but with what the V1 was, the Musketeer have fall back. it was there for age, but never added... more bad, now the marauder and musketeer guild are the same building. true we have some npc using a pistol for shoot in the basement.... but that all.

Yoshida have said, that new class will need to fill a role and a need. do the musketeer it's needed? i doubt it. we already have more Ranged class than melee. (4 melee vs 5 ranged) without forget that some scout class are missing, i think the thief/ninja or another tank will come first before we get to see the musketeer.

some link of interview of yoshida talking of the futur class:

JPGAMES: We also wanted to know, if there will also be former jobs, which we got to know from Final Fantasy XI. For example, the Blue Mage was quite popular amongst the fans. Will there be more job classes in the future?

YOSHIDA: Of course not only from FF XI, but from the previous Final Fantasy Series as well. There are a lot of unique jobs in the Final Fantasy Series, so you can expect a lot of interesting classes. From Version 1.0 the new one we are implementing to A Realm Reborn to start with, is the Summoner. But also there could be classes like Dark Knight, Samurai, Thief and Ninja.

    New Classes/Jobs

It’s fun looking back at the various Jobs and classes featured in the Final Fantasy series history as potential candidates to be added to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Heck, you can even look at Final Fantasy XI for some obvious examples of classes players would probably like to see in ARR. However, the system ARR uses makes considering the logistics of these additions somewhat perplexing. For example, it’s not too hard to imagine Square Enix adding Dark Knight to ARR. GLD+CNJ gives you a Paladin, GLD+THM could easily give you a Dark Knight Job. But what about some other classes and Jobs that aren’t represented at all in either gameplay, theme, or aesthetic in the current game? Are these still possible? Or would Square Enix look more to add Jobs such as Dark Knight, which easily fit within the current crop of classes available in the game.

To illustrate my point, I used the example of adding Ninja to the game. You’d probably want a “Thief” base class for that, but this doesn’t currently exist, so would Square Enix still be open to adding it?

We were told that, yes, Square Enix would be willing to add these sorts of classes and Jobs if the game needed the team roles and if it wouldn’t break the current balance of the game. Adding something like Ninja (and Thief to go along with it as a base class) would be a massive undertaking as one might imagine, as each class also features its own guild and missions to go with it. For certain iconic classes or Jobs like Ninja, Square Enix is willing to do it, but they are definitely putting more of an emphasis on trying to find Jobs that can fit within the current scope of the game’s available classes.

Q: Can you give us any information about possible new classes or jobs like thief, ninja, samurai, or musketeer?
A: We definitely want to add more classes in future patches. For melee classes, I believe scout-type classes are somewhat lacking. By this I mean classes that can move around stealthily and attack from behind or steal items from monsters. The lack of magic classes needs to be addressed as well. We've received requests for ninja and samurai, especially from overseas, but we can't give out any specifics yet. Rest assured that new classes are definitely coming.

Q: Is there any new information on musketeer?
    A: Nope!
about the fact that we will to wait about get closer of the empire for see gun class (and not gunblade class, that was never mentionned) it was said while the second phase of the closed beta. indeed thing can have change, but it was said.

you can do some search on the web the musketeer class is never mentionned by Yoshida, always the player that bring it, the class he talk the most are samurai, dark knight, thief, ninja. one more time, we can't take this like a pointer, but i doubt they will bring a class that will only use a pistol. without forget that musketeer, in reality, use Musket a long rifle, not a pistol.

finally, i'm ok with the add of the musketeer, simply i don't want a class that will bring nothing new to the game and will feel like the archer simply with a gun. they have in the past game many class that can be used for the gun class. here a list pretty nice of all the jobs in the final fantasy game

It is impressive that, while you managed to find quotes for just about everything else, "Musketeer will be tied with the Empire" is the only one you couldn't provide, stranger still when it should just be in the Beta Archive and much easier to find.

    I can play the quotes game too, though;

    http://gamerescape.com/2013/02/21/ga...iv-media-tour/
GE- With ARR we’ll see Arcanist added with Summoner shortly after the game launches. Are there any other classes or jobs you’d like to see added? And will these be added in patches or expansions?

Yoshida- What I would like to see right?

First of all, we are planning a new race for an expansion pack. For the classes and jobs, we will introduce them through patches because all of the Legacy players have level 50 jobs anyway. When we introduce new classes and jobs we will probably increase the level cap at the same time.

About what I want to introduce- it’s more like what I think I have to introduce. Something related to guns because the (musketeer) guild in the game. Something related to that I think I have to introduce.

Also I do feel that scouting classes are lacking so I want to bring in Theif, Ninja and those that have to do with stealth. Also more casters like Blue Mage and Red Mage are something I would like to add.

Whatever the players want, I want too.
Also, some people shooting in the guild basement isn't all. Plenty of Limsa NPCs have guns, the leader to The Maelstrom has two, and there are plenty of rifles littering the walls around Limsa. Heck, a boss in the new dungeon uses a gun... The fact that the Guild is still there speaks volumes, they could easily have just removed it if, as you claim, Musketeer isn't coming until we're near the Empire. They wouldn't have bothered saying Blacksmiths have recently taken to Gun Smithing if, as you claim, Musketeer isn't coming until we're near the Empire. There are Musketeers in Limsa, there is no reason for us to require going to the Empire, it'd be an absolutely ridiculous plot hole if so...

The only thing I even remotely remember them talking about in regards to new Jobs and the Empire was the FFVIII fans demands for a Gunblade Job.

    ^ yep

As stated in this quote by Yoshi-P Musketeer is currently his Priorty in the new class to be released.

Still I thought everyone would have saw this quote by now when i posted a topic about this quote.

(on topic of that quote: I wonder how longer before Yoshi-P deemed necessary to raise the level cap.)
