I could be mistaken, but I've been over the video several times to make sure.
as I said "noise". Who isn't to say that if no skill input is done, you get "min delay" and when you start using your skills and WS, there is "delay fatigue"... We have too few data to guestimate if the equation is linear or more advance.

Heck we haven't even gotten to weapon types yet. But they'll all be checked eventually.

In FF11, we were able to with time, calculate zero delay thesis that we have come to associate with haste equations.

Ah, I think I see your point of view now. You're talking about "weapon delay". To which you are right, it can't be determined if there is and how much it is.

I'm just saying that in it's current form, auto-attack is about every 3 seconds.

As far as weapon delay goes, we don't even know if it exists yet. The Development Team would need to state something one way or the other regarding that facet of the auto-attack subject.

It'll take some time before we can even guess if the AA is even linear (i.e. it's static math, as oppose to graph equations).

I'm more interesting in TP returns now. It looks like you get TP for anything even shaking your rear.

Why is everyone comparing the AA speed to front loaded stamina attack speed?

Go to 0 stamina and then try to attack... the AA in that video is as fast, if not faster than many classes "Heavy Stab's" etc. Not only that you can use abilities for no stamina cost during that such as Provoke, Taunt etc that took 4 seconds of stamina to regain to even use.

This helps Gladiator, Marauder, and Archer out a ton since they are the 3 classes most often starved for stamina... in short the actual "attack speed" is the same as it currently is when you are stamina starved, but due to abilities not taking away from that anymore a lot more actions will be used in the same time frame.

Because people don't feel it's fast until they spam 111 to make themselves useful?

At least no there are no more animation abuse tricks.

Unfortunately FFXIV prevents this behavior from being effective by inhibiting stats upon swapping equipment.

I happen to personally like not having to hit equipment macros and watch my character undress redress undress again and do an invisible dance right before certain skills.

Also easier to balance a static system. But I think just having skills mix-matched before every encounter is bad enough.

I'll fight this mage with my anti-mage skills and gear...and I'll fight this fighter after that with my anti melee gear and skills....it's naturally unbalanced.

It will also allow developers to have stats that don't match up purposely. Speed gear, TP gear, power gear, etc can't be blinked on to l33t -fied it.

Just wanted to share that apparently on the JP forums a dev said that they will increase the AA speed, to what extent I do not know but that's what it said apparently. (Don't take this for granted, it was shared to us with auto-translate option, so nothing official)

Still, I know this is to try and give feedback on the system that was showed to us briefly but it does say in bold red in the prod. letter that this is under development... altho I might be just trying to convince myself here since the same comment of "still under development" was made when showing the zones and they were exactly the same when the game was released lol..

My only concern is auto attack will make the battles easier and less tactical. I hope SE will take that into account.

How much easier and less tactical can it get considering what is happening right now?

We have archers and mages tanking NMs and zerg infestations, and button pressing dog piles.

If there's poop to be flung around, we're in a manure factory.

At this point all that's left is to trust the developers they've learned their lesson the 2nd time around.
