Books are plenty fine. I just wish that high-end books stopped looking like overly ornate shields made out of papier-mâché. What's wrong with a subtle glow to the diagrams in the books, or some letters in Eorzean font spewing out when open? Or heck, just some fancy crests like Deus Ex Verbis has. Burning spikes and green feathers on books is sinful!

Love me a good book! But I would also love some more awesome book animations.

I'm thinking along the lines of flipping through pages on crits or some calculations (internal) on certain casts, all not really needed but, I will take em!

What about the classic, "toss book on ground, pull all pages into air so you can read 'em all at once" animation?

Have you seen the lightning book? It's pretty neat, it slides out parts from a more narrow thing. Shows what could be done, and hopefully more variety will come, since we are really at the start of the game, and vanity isn't out yet.

IMO main hand should be book and offhand should have been a quill. It is part of the animation after all.

I'm a fan of the book. Ifrit and Garuda books look good. Titan? Not so much. But the omnilex is quite nice, especially once upgraded to zenith, in all its glowy glory

Reasons why books suck in this game is

1. Smn and Sch books look extremely similar. Compare that to whm and blm staffs. Theres a big difference between e.g Thyrus and stardust rod or omirod and elder staff.
2. No page animations, Seems like it isn't a functioning book at all.
3. Low res illegible writing/diagrams.
4. Books are small and have much less details compared to the weapons of the other jobs.

Could have been much worse. Imagine if you will a Scholar running around with an I-Pad, casting I for an I and have a fairy like Link´s Navy (a floating apple with wings).
