Didn't read the whole thread, and not sure if it's been mentioned, but I am hoping to see at least some sort of grind. I know it's been said that our job level will correspond directly with our class level, but I'm hoping we have to do more than simple quests to get our new abilities. For example, the quested WSs in FFXI where you had to use WS x amount of times. Basically I just want something to work towards and give me something to do. Maybe the initial ability is easy to get but you could increase its power by, say 30% or something by doing some random timesink. I don't know I just don't want everything handed to me, this game is already unrewarding enough....

i think that the fact so many people want this has more to do with the lack of level caps or classes. In the long term i think it would be a really bad idea for you to have to level a class twice. Dont let the lack of adding real content make bad game design. Think if you leveled pugilist to 30, then had to go back and level monk, with only a few new skills at your disposal, then what, level both seperately? It would seem horrible to most new players.

but sadly it will be not like that.....

thats incredible, but this is the 1st time i see a game, where the devs implements new "jobs-classes" that you dont need to lv up.

People talk shit like: "those aren't new classes, this is only a evolution of our old classes...blabla..."

I want to: feel, love.... or hate the new abilities or the jobs proneness... only by grinding you will be able to experince it.

the soul of the RPGs is the lving.... I'm wondering why people wants to ruin it ....

The grinding in FFXIV is crap on so many lvs... then make it more fun.... eliminate it, is not the solution

    I've seen it before.

Besides, why should I have to re-level the same class all over again? If they were going to be genuinely different classes, I might see the point, but they're not.

Then, only add new abilities, without this useless "job with other name" thing..

Pld, drg, drk, whatever you want, are Classes, with a MMO historically background, they can't be only additions of an existance class.

if they wanted to bring back old FF names without put some offort in make "new-old" geniune classes... then, they could simply change the classes names.

I'm a lnc and i was really happy when I saw that I would be able to play as a drg..... but now, that i know that I only will have to do some quest and then get some exclusive ability for my lnc, I'm kinda disappointed.

The point was, that you would not have to re-level same class...but to level a new class... with new abilities and with a new and more fun grinding system, that I'm sure will be implemented (exp-Chains, new leves, hard quests, complicated and satisfying dungeouns)

They are working hard, I know, but those new content and changes, will have a very short life, and SE will be in trouble soon again.

I really dont understand ....I hope they have some really good idea for us "expectants".

no it has to do with the fact people wanted these classic classes to be their own class. we wanted to be able to specialize in these new classes. if we were able to specialize the new classes and level those new classes you would not have a reason to level a class twice. you explain how that would be horrible to new players.

He didn't say that you need to be a lv 50 Gladiator to unlock Paladin, only that a lv 50 Gladiator would be a lv 50 Paladin.
A lv 45 Gladiator would be a lv 45 Paladin, a lv 30 Gladiator would be a lv 30 Paladin.

so basically you wanted/hoped for all new classes that were more specific. Ok that would make sense if that was the case, but i think a lot of people dont realize it isnt the case.
for the others that think jobs means new jobs, realize that jobs means an overall role specialization tied to current classes.
they need new classes though, we should have had musketeer, arcanist and mystic long ago, with bard soon after that. 7 battle classes is just no where near enough.
and we need a level cap increase, most of these jobs just start getting interesting in the 30s, and we dont get to see their full potential even at 50.

Also we can confirm that we'll be changing the term "ranks" (as in rank 50 Pugilist) to "levels" (as in level 50 Pugilist) along with the removal of the physical level. We'll also be changing skill points to experience points.

    In summation:
    Rank > Level
    Skill points > Experience points
So we won't get to level our new jobs?? Total bummer.. Starting to not wanna play this game. The direction it seems to be going is down the drain.

I was so excited for the new jobs.. :\

they wont really be new jobs, they will be a job specilization of current jobs, what you want is new classes(which in the new system should each have a specialization). aka new content, which in all honesty the game really really needs. its going to be almost a year with virtually the same content.
