Hiya folks.
In anticipation of the iLevel that we may find in 2.2 (let's assume an iLevel that is always higher than whatever crafted thing I propose here), I propose the following insanity for you to shoot down:
Altered Summary:
1) iLevel 70 Gathering Gear with Tier V Gathering Materia.
2) Gathering the current Philosophy Items from Unspoiled Nodes such as Coke, Potash, etc.
3) Perception-only Gathering Results (RNG). An HQ gather on Coke may yield Orichalum Ore used to craft iLevel 90 goods.
4) Weekly Gathering Nodes that appear several times a week, however, can only be gathered once per week. May require a high amount of Gathering to ensure success. May be required for iLevel 90 gear or as a component for iLevel 105 gear.
5) Mythology crafting ingredients. May be craft iLevel 90 or as a component for iLevel 105 gear.
6) iLevel 70 Crafting Gear. Used to craft iLevel 90 Battle gear with more reliable results. iLevel 90 Quality requirements will be higher enough that HQ may not be guaranteed with NQ materials.
7) Tier V Materia. Convert iLevel 90 battle gear to Tier V materia. Tier IV may also be more available due to the 2.1 quests and the availability of i70 battle gear with increased materials from gathering and excess philosophy.
8) Coil Tokens for Turns 6+. Award one token for each turn clear. You may not get the drop you want that week (which may be an iLV 120 drop at this point). Take five of these unsellable, untradeable tokens alongside an HQ iLevel 90 gear, a weekly gathering node material and turn it into Gerolt or some smelter to make an untradeable, unsellable iLevel 105 of your choice. You can dye it. You can meld it with Tier V. And with enough effort, may be a more flexible version of an iLevel 120 drop.
Yup.... and if you wanted to see a more exaggerated version of me telling this... it's in the hidden box below. I didn't have the heart to delete it while waiting for unspoiled nodes to spawn.
1) Gathering 2.0-2.1 Philosophy Items from Nodes.
Whoop out that i70 Gathering Gear, cause you're gonna need to it gather dat Coke, Hardened Sap and Potash from the new level XX gathering nodes! But wait! What in Nophica's teats is that?! This may help promote the production of Tier IV materia.
2) HQ Gathering on Level 70 Unspoiled Nodes yields different item
That's right. A material that is only awarded as a result of making a successful Perception check while gathering an unspoiled node on an iLevel 70 node. You just wanted some Coke and Potash and now you're getting this Orichalum Ore and undamaged Leviathan Scales (which Leviathan coincidentally does not drop). What can you make with it? iLevel 70 gear?! No! iLevel 80 or... dare I say... iLevel 90? I mean, with that amount of Perception with a few attempts every Earth hour, those materials would be worth iLevel 90 crafting right?
3) Weekly gathering nodes.
If you didn't like the first two ideas, then you'll like this one even less! Weekly unspoiled nodes. The node may spawn several times a week, but you can only gather from it one time before the weekly reset. This may just be a component to the iLevel 90 gear to make sure the market isn't immediately saturated with it. I mean... cause what good are mythology tomestones if... wait... did someone say mythology?
4) Mythology Crafting Materials
Oh my Twelve no. Fiosha, you sick bastard you say? Yes. I hope you were enjoying that 450 mythology cap. Cause now there are mythology ingredients too! When you botch a recipe or a disconnect, you will cry, swear and do handstands in dangerously high places. And you will also have some insane satisfaction when you successfully craft the recipe. But wait... what if...
5) Cannot Guarantee HQ with NQ materials on i90+ recipes
That's right. The amount of quality you would need to 100% HQ this recipe is so insanely nuts, that you better hope Great Strides, Ingenuity II and Byregot's Blessing align on an Excellent while you're sitting at 6+ stacks. You invested that epic hourly Perception, the weekly gathering node and the Mythology and you aren't even guaranteed to have your HQ iLevel 90 gear? But before that you need to...
6) Crafted iLevel 70 DoH
Yup. You need to use your Coke and Potash and such to craft iLevel 70 Crafter Gear. And if you want a decent shot at making iLevel 90 gear, you'll want to meld that stuff up good AND eat your darn food (and make some culinarians and fishers really happy). But... if that wasn't enough...
7) And there's Coil...
Turn 6 through 10 drop Coil Tokens. What are Coil Tokens? They're another pain in the butt component to crafting. They're untradeable. They're unsellable. I don't really know who Gerolt is or why he can make relics (or why we can forge Zenith for that matter), but throw some tokens into a furnace with some iLevel 90 crap and voila, iLevel 105+ gear of your choice (more or less). If we want to be less friendly, HQ iLevel 90 only plz. You didn't get your Coil drop for the week, that's okay. Spend five tokens and a weekly gathering effort to get at least one drop of your choice and then... RMT can't sell you this bad boy (okay, maybe only the gathering drops after they outfit iLevel 70 gathering gear with melds)
8) Tier V Materia Melds? Please stop...
Yup. Tier V materia is making a slippy return. It's bad enough that i90 takes so long to obtain and now this? That Coil token, crafting and gathering labor of love you made? The iLevel 105 one? Yes. That can be melded and it accepts Tier V materia... like a baus. Be prepared to convert lots of iLevel 90 stuff into Tier V to make your most flexible, customizable piece that you'll probably rather run Coil turn 6 through 10 over and over again instead. And that, well, you'll have to determine if you want to buy that Large Free Company house on World Groups 4 and 5 or one piece of gear. Remember, the iLevel 105 is not sellable on the market wards, so you still have to do Coil to earn that piece and you'll still need the efforts of an outfitted gatherer AND an outfitted crafter. Yeah... I'm going to stop, place this in a hidden box and know that most people will never get this far... Happy New Years Folks!
