    Grade 5 Carbonized Matter?

    After doing one of the quests... Either in the story or to unlock CT I got three Grade 5 Carbonized Matter? What the heck is it used for? I know you need Grade 4 to meld T4 materia. Are there some hidden T5 materia we don't know about? There's currently no way to obtain any more other than buying it off players, and I haven't found a use for it other than melding stuff you could use lower ranked Matter for.

    No, I think this item is still in the game for the future. At some point, we'll have access to higher grade materia that requires higher grade carbonized matter for melding.

    Carbonized matter of higher grades can be used to meld any lower grade materia. 3 can meld 1, 2, and 3. 4 can meld 1, 2, 3, and 4. Since there are no tier-5 materias yet, 5 is effectively the same as a tier-4. You can still use it to meld whatever.

    I have a feeling that they added the Grade 5 Carbonized Matter to this quest to crash the idiot market on the legacy servers. I was making a killing slowly selling off my 1.0 Grade 5 Carbo Matters to idiots who didn't know any better at 5k+ a pop.

    I don't understand why they would add an item to the main quest for a purpose that doesn't even exist yet. It would make much more sense to just add it when they add the materia. But I guess that sort of reasoning is too difficult for SE, as shown by them adding holiday gear with a patch, but not adding the ability to store them in the armoire in the same patch...

    It's for future use just like the ....ah what the heck is the nations quests called? The one with the ranks that are locked out...??? Companies?
