    Food stat caps

I was looking at some of the 2 star foods that are available and I noticed that even the cap for the stats make the foods sound pretty good, but a lot of them aren't possible to reach. Namely, the 22 (27 HQ) stat cap foods that have a 3% (4% HQ) increase. You need 675 of the stat to get the full effect of the foods and that just isn't possible to get. I understand if they wanted to have the food continue to be used well into the gear/level progression, but that is another 150-250 of the specific stat for the highest obtainable values currently.

It is just deceiving, in my opinion, to have such a high number displayed on the tooltip that I'm sure a lot of people glance at and think is the the value they are getting with ilvl 90 gear only to be receiving 60% of it.

Players and developers have been keenly aware of this since launch pretty much, when people were figuring out what food to bring to Twintania attempts.
Yes it is bizarre and deceiving on Square's part, but as you said it could just be a sign of planning the future. Or it could just one of many many oversights in this game that have yet to be addressed because its low priority.

Yes thats how it works. Most people dont realize this and they eat expensive food for nothing because a lower level food will give you the same results with the current stats your character might have.

I see it more a way to limit people using lower level food at cap. The max isn't what you should get it's the max you can get.

Um, people are currently using worse food because it provides more stats than the high-end food. That is the point of this thread.

If it gave the same stats (at a certain gear level) fair enough but more it sounds like a bug. Do SE have a bug report feature?

The high-end food would require players to have unattainable levels of stats in order to be better than the worse food. As the OP said you would need something like 675 in a stat for the high-end food to be better.

Yes there is a bug report feature, this oversight was pointed out over 3 months ago when players were trying to figure out what the best food was to bring to Binding Coil of Bahamut.

Unfortunately the 2-star foods don't really present any value for the time (and cost) investment to make them at the moment. I had this talk with my guild recently. None had bothered to get the 2-star food before the patch because they'd have to buy a ton of it. With it persisting through death they were talking about having me make it instead of buttons and toast. Once I pointed out the percentages though, and they calculated using their own stats (even those in a majority ilvl 90 gear), we came to the conclusion is just isn't worth it. We're better off selling the clusters.

In terms of time investment, 2 star foods end up being less of a hassle for me to make because they have a lower number of required ingredients. But I say this as someone who has Botany to 50, so it's not like clusters are an issue for me.

I believe the 2 star foods are in place because they will eventually be the best food as gear levels rise. SE was planning ahead.

If this is indeed SE "thinking ahead", it sounds like they have no intention of adding higher level crafting recipes when they increase gear levels. Crafting is now -more- of a dead end. I doubt it was "thinking ahead" and it was sheer oversight.
