    Because the ff14 developers are used to FF11 and other similar MMO theologies.

    They could have easily done it like Ragnarok online, and have linear xp forumlas and have their true "many vs many" battles. There isn't a super-breed theory that you have to gang pile on an enemy.

    Have to work within some built in confines of how FF14 formulas work or you'll have to completely redo it in the end.

    Agree - there's that too. Every standard battle is pull 1 (maybe 2 guys) and slaughter them when you are out in the wild. Why are so few bad guys linked together??? You'd think if I started stabbing one goblin to death, the one that's five feet away might engage. It's like there needs to be mobs that aren't necessarily aggressive, but will defend themselves as a group if attacked. Right now there is little to none of that.
