seriously CT is freaking easy and can be done with people in i55 gear i've seen it done and for people who say you must have dl and or relic well those people are the ones who can't avoid mechanics and need the extra hp to live thru them

Gear =/= to skill. While yes practice is recommended through other instances, a player's skill should never be determined by gear. Also try and remember that relic or not, you were a CT noob to at one point. Try coaching from an understand perspective rather than saying "don't suck"; it helps everyone in the end.
>OP tells people they need to overgear the content so he can coast through CT
>Calls them noobs.

Odd. I've seen people in AF1 gear move out of stuff that the "Uber pro hardcore" players stand in and die to. But of course gear = skill. Obviously.

You can perform fairly well with lower level gear, provided you upgrade the correct pieces first.
That's because the most important piece of gear for a DD is the weapon. You can get a lot more of a performance increase from simply getting an 80 weapon over full DL/90 gear. I've done lots of testing on a few different jobs on dummies. Full i90, full DL, AF with everything else i90, DL with relic+1 and so on. For example, I get 310ish DPS on dragoon in full i90 (set #1), 260 dps with full AF, lvl 70 accessories and relic+1 (set #2), and 260 dps with full i90 and a garuda's weapon (set #3). It was a difference of 60 some odd strength between Sets #1/3 from set #2, not to mention a few weeks of work but 2 and 3 performed equally.
I guess my point is that you can get 240-250 dps by getting relic and full AK gear (under optimal circumstances) which is plenty for any content that isn't a dps check (there is very little of these). It's just a matter of people knowing how to get those numbers, not the gear, that is preventing it.
CT is so easy to do overgeared. As a heal, I can go afk during most fights and as long as people dodge everything's fine (especially true as a SCH, where my fairy can do everything). Bone Dragon is especially boring as a heal; I just have to throw Stoneskin on people and maybe toss a Regen at tanks as a WHM, or just do nothing as a SCH (assuming MT isn't on my team)
DPS don't need to be geared; as long as they dodge they're fine.
Really, the only one that needs to have gear is the MT. And there's always one tank that has at least full DL or even mostly i90...
I'm not afraid of giving advice to people if they need it. But it really just boils down to this: All tanks but MT take skeletons to the end of the platforms, one per row. 4 people per glowing platform at all times. Keep the pots safe; if you go invisible you're on boss, if not you're on adds. Napalms are top priority, than Balloons. Don't place comets near Belehmoth, kill bombs and don't let the Giant cleave through everyone. Stay out of stuff and get to platforms when the claws spawn.

OP, I'm writing down your character name just to make absolutely sure I avoid any chance of running with you. Opinions like that are the reason there's a "vote kick for harassment" feature in the game.
Seriously, are you just flame posting at this point? You were new at CT once too, you know. Everyone here was. Hell, I ran it on Day 1 and there were no special walkthrough videos. But every single person in my raid was of a mind that "no one knows the raid, so we're gonna wing it and wipe fifty times, so that's okay." And you know what? All 24 of us had a ton of fun with it. But now we have "uber pros" like yourself and some of the folks in this thread running CT over and over and over, and I get thrown into stupid cheerleader politics of determining which players and groups in the alliances suck worst.
I know CT isn't that hard. Not that hard at all. But that's because I know exactly how to run it, because I've run it before. If you tell someone to go watch a video, unless they are a visual/auditory learner, they're not going to remember that at all! And to be perfectly honest, a lot of players of MMOs are kinesthetic learners, which means they have to run something in order to learn it. And chances are, in a raid with 24 people in it, there's going to be at least one person who is a kinesthetic learner who has never run it before, and if it's really not that hard, that one player's lack of experience should have minimal, if any impact on the entire raid.
Also, calling people out as being "noobs" is only going to incite hatred. Think of how you would react if you were called a "noob" because you couldn't do something. Would you honestly take that from someone else? Or would you get angry and argue the reasons why you couldn't do it? "Can't run T5 Coil with six players? What a noob."
Folks with that kind of mentality that everyone less experienced than them is a noob... it's poisonous. If CT isn't that hard, then you should be able to complete it without having to rely on that player.
Have some empathy for the rookies, for the love of the Twelve.

DL and relic for CT?
Sounds like the real 'noob' here is the one that needs to overgear by like 20 ilvls to clear content...
