Its not like the characters in FFXIV have the chest mass to make it matter. the Breast sizes in FFXIV are not that big, ranging between B and low C in cup size. While characters in past ff's like Tifa (Double F) and Lulu (F) had much bigger.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

agree with you on that. not really a good look on the ladies. somehow both slutty and matronly

Nice post OP. I like your style. I would support such a system. As some other posters point out, other MMOs have had similar systems where your stat boosting gear is seperate from your fashion items. Ideally this would be the best system!
How many times can they mess up pre-order codes?!?
Meh, sounds sort of interesting. Personally I'd prefer more customisation of the overall armour set to the specific class/job. I'm sure it'd please the freedom-obsessives, though.
And of course, it would go a ways to explaining a way out of the fact that job-specific armour wouldn't work if jobs weren't locked to a class, and I know how you hate that.

I have no problems with Job specific gear and no job specific gear doesn't require class locking.

Sure sure, I won't take the thread off topic. Anyways, it would be kinda neat for the option on some equipment, though I think it'd be kinda weird to be able to transfer the stats of a plate set to a tunic. But then, magic etc etc.

It's a good idea.
I also like to see mages in mage gear and warriors in heavier gear for immersion purposes, but people should be able to wear what they like. So.. It would be cool to see materia give stats to make some fashionable gear similar to other gear, but perhaps not "the same as."
I hope that made sense. XD

I think the biggest benefit to this idea is the fact that it will make it so even if you have to have "This gear" because of its stats you don't have to have it for its looks. So we wont see everyone running around in Leaping boots and an Hauberk.

Putting a lil more thought into this, and staring at myself crafting, I realize I'd be 100% for this system if a simple restriction were put into place. That being; all equipment will be grouped into three families DoW/DoM/DoH. Swapping stats via materia (or something similar) is possible as long as the two pieces are in the same family.
This way the weirdest thing you would see is a GLA tanking in leather (and maybe some weird ARC looking gear), or a PUG dishing out pain in some Full Plate. That seems totally reasonable to me!
Also, I'd love it for crafting. I really dislike the smithing doublets, and I really prefer if I could metalwork optimally in the slimming cut off vests
I feel it's a fair compromise.
