    Labyrinths, mazes, puzzles.

    Hello Everyone,

there's a feature in another mmorpg I used to play called Jumping puzzles, I believe most of us are familiar with this term, and I must say I really enjoyed doing these puzzles.
For those who are not familiar with jumping puzzles, please just use google or youtube, the first links/videos are what I'm talking about. Here's a link to make it easier for you: Let me google that for you. You can also just continue reading, I'm going to explain my idea anyway

I remember many other poeple who enjoyed doing these jumping puzzles and that makes me wonder if there are more people like me who would love to see a similar feature being implemented into FFXIV - ARR?

I believe jumping puzzles are a great idea, but the game I used to play never really used it to it's fullest. I see great potential in it, and this is how I imagine it could be like:

    - A hidden place somewhere in the world of Eorzea, a hidden cavern, a haunted house, a magical portal to another twisted dimension, basically anything.

    - Possibly an instance for one or two poeple. (finding more people for event that does not reward equipment is troublesome, but one guildmate/friend is usually easy to find)

    - The instance would require you to jump your way through variosly difficult enviroment, avoid traps, solve logical puzzles / riddles, co-operate with your friend (like pushing levers simultaneously, looking at things from different sides to solve an issue etc.), use monsters to solve problems (use a bomb monster to clear a path etc), maybe even defeat a boss at the end (preferably using 99% strategy and logic not damage, we have other instances for that ).

    - Rewards for finding and clearing these puzzles might be minions, mounts, tattoos, hairstyles, haircolors, item skins (when vanity slots are implemented), experience, anything that does not affect the game economy.
Time limits might also be used, the better time you have clearing the puzzle the better the reward, and keeping a list of records for everyone to see might also be a good idea. - I take this back, no time limits, this would only force people to look up the strategy on the internet

So what do you think, wouldn't it be nice to have something like this in the game?

I have really enjoyed the quest lines in this game that have required the use of /jump. I call it xivParkour but without spoilers, yes there are indeed quests in this game that use /jump to complete the content but the one's I encountered were more parkour or traversing land obstacles/climbing and less of the specific "puzzle" structure with a.b.c/1.2.3 steps. Still, jump was required to gather specific objects placed on, in and around the landscape or structures and it was a lot of fun to do and figure out in real time.

Any new quests with an even more direct jump puzzle like format would be great. Also I would add this thread to the one with the discussion of "survival mode" because I would love to include this feature in such a way.

    This!

But then again the world is horribly small and tight for an mmo (compared to GW2 for example). There's not much space for a random jumping puzzle in the map. Instances would work, sure but I don't think it would feel the same.

Put this ability to jump in use SE! I love myself a good jumping puzzle. Make them hard and rewarding. :3

Yes, you're right, there are a few quests that require jumping, but those are some really easy and quick jumps

I agree some aspects of my proposal could be added to the survival mode, but I can't agree with you on the merge of the Survival mode topic with this topic.
The purpose of the survival topic is to get another way to obtain equipment and items that do affect the game economy. The purpose of this topic is to get such content into the game that would not affect the game economy in any way and only reward vanity items, hence content that can be made quickly and implemented into the game rather frequently without having to worry about the impact on the game economy.

I'm afaid instances are the only option, you already mentioned the space issue, and there's also a problem with the co-operation with another player. Just imagine a puzzle like in the portal game series where you have to work together with another player and now a third player comes and messes with your progression.
