It's actually hilarious how people assume something they don't know the first thing about.
Because BnS, unlike many CN-hosted games, does not enforce any kind of IP blocking, or even registration checking, for that matter.
I was able to register an account, download it and play (it's f2p over there) without having to use any proxies or VPNs. And while it is laggy at times - with occasional freezes and stuttering which is unavoidable considering great distances (trace goes over 15 hops for me) and server load, it has a completely different feel.

You're right. So why don't you call your ISP and complain they are giving you a terrible connection to the SE servers? You pay for good service that you clearly aren't getting.
I have a better idea. Why pay for a clunky service at all?
Might just stop renewing those subs until SE acknowledges the problem and stops hiding behind legions of white knights and lame excuses like "fixing this would make server load exceed our capacity".
Because frankly, seeing how patches go, FFXIV:ARR is a rather average game which will need a lot of time to sort out it's problems, a simple WoW clone not that much different from RIFT, SWTOR and other withering MMOs, aside from having a "Final Fantasy" theme.
