Just to add my 2 cents...

Living in Hong Kong (all the way over the ocean), and i have no problems dodging titan AoEs. In fact in your video you are reacting way to slow. Landslide you can already see happening when he is turning, no need to wait for the AoE animation. With the plums i would have been almost half a second faster too. Stop blaming connections and learn how to react properly.

OP says nothing was done to fix the netcode.

A few weeks ago I opened this thread.

You start casting Physick then start moving when the cast is at 1.70 seconds left, and the cast still finishes.

That means you have a 1.7 second delay which can only be caused by horrible ISP, horrible wireless, or your internet getting D/Ced. Square has nothing to do with this problem.

If I'm casting Physick and start moving as late as .3 seconds left on the cast and it will still get interrupted before it finishes casting, and I'm in Europe which is about the worst possible place to be in terms of lag.

Don't blame Square for issues that are caused by yourself.

There are a lot of issues in this game where you can be the QQ or white Knight. Their net code is just plain laziness and being cheap that's all period. If even 1/4 of your player base is experiencing this, good customer service and overall product quality assurance means you fix it. But seeing square refuses to and blames it on countless other things proves further that they are not providing a quality experience. A excuse is a lazy man's way to say you don't want to fix it.

Pretty much have to agree with what Aegis said. There are workarounds and things you can do to compensate as a player, which a lot of us have figured out how to do in order to keep playing the game, and can share with each other to help make it more playable for everyone.

However, this doesn't make the way the game works acceptable or good by any stretch of the imagination. And it definitely doesn't make it people's ISPs' "fault" when it's only an issue for FFXIV and nothing else. People saying otherwise also need to remember that this game is available on PS3 and will be available on PS4, and there's much less you can do to fix problems there. A well-coded game compensates for most of these differences in connections, and doesn't result in nearly as many people having problems as there are playing FFXIV.

See, those of us who played 11 for years are already used to this and find your whining annoying. SE won't fix it because that's just how they are. If you think you can help them out, I implore you to apply for a position within their company to offer up your innovative ideas and expertise regarding this matter.

Till then, the rest of us will work with what we have, understanding that the offline-esque gameplay you desire isn't going to happen in an online game. It's amazing when 1 person in the raid says, "I WAS CLEARLY OUT OF THAT!" yet 7 other people lived through it. Just please either learn to work with the system or move on to another system.

Just because some players are used to SE's bad design/netcode doesn't make it good.
You guys could offer arguments to justify *why* it is good. I haven't seen any so far.
Only people who need their ego stroked and liked the fact that they are lucky enough to not suffer from delay like others, or who learnt to compensate for it (which is totally possible, that's right) and are trying to convince themselves that it makes them "more skilled" (in an entirely scripted fight? reall?).

Newsflash: you are not helping this thread. You are not being constructive. You are not helping anyone. Thankyou for going away (like you tell all of those people who dare to say this game is flawed).

And now I'll be following my own advice and going away, because I, sadly, have no advice to give the OP. I live in EU, have about the same ping as him, and suffer from delay.
Thank you to those trying to be constructive here (including those that think it's probably not SE's fault, yes, you can have a different opinion and still be respectfull and constructive).

    Oh really?
So let me get this straight...
In all those years of MMO history, throughout Everquest, WoW, AoC, Aion and whatnot people have been experiencing "offline" gameplay because hey, I guess those development hours poured into lag compensation research should've been spent on something else - after all, who cares about smooth gameplay? And apparently, with the arrival of MMOs with action-styled combat like Vindictus, C9, Tera, Blade and Soul, Dragon Nest and countless others, nobody with less-than-perfect connections ever played them, because I can't recall any "I've been hit by stuff I've been out of" complaints either. Shame on all those ungrateful whiners who blame SE, having suffered similar lags in every other online game, they must be plotting something, eh?

P.S. I installed a Chinese Blade and Soul client about a week ago. My connection to China is far from perfect, but guess what, even after soloing some instance boss (which took me roughly 15 minutes of careful dodging, ability chaining and positioning) I haven't been hit by any telegraphed attacks I wasn't in range of. Magic, I tell you.

It's ironic no one caught this.

P.S you're using a VPN or way to get around the IP block China has on the majority of their newer MMORPGs - tunneling services, as we know, forces a connection and takes the most direct route.

It's actually hilarious how people assume something they don't know the first thing about.
Because BnS, unlike many CN-hosted games, does not enforce any kind of IP blocking, or even registration checking, for that matter.
I was able to register an account, download it and play (it's f2p over there) without having to use any proxies or VPNs. And while it is laggy at times - with occasional freezes and stuttering which is unavoidable considering great distances (trace goes over 15 hops for me) and server load, it has a completely different feel.

You're right. So why don't you call your ISP and complain they are giving you a terrible connection to the SE servers? You pay for good service that you clearly aren't getting.
I have a better idea. Why pay for a clunky service at all?
Might just stop renewing those subs until SE acknowledges the problem and stops hiding behind legions of white knights and lame excuses like "fixing this would make server load exceed our capacity".
Because frankly, seeing how patches go, FFXIV:ARR is a rather average game which will need a lot of time to sort out it's problems, a simple WoW clone not that much different from RIFT, SWTOR and other withering MMOs, aside from having a "Final Fantasy" theme.
