Because RPG's without gear upgrades are boring.
Like as compared to having an alt fetish? You mean like putting peanut butter on your pancakes? The intercourse stuff? As compared to emoteacourse???
This couldn't have been more vague and have no idea what this means.
Tails and ears are mine. Jus sayin.

The best parties I've entered didn't request gear.
The few times I ended up running something, I didn't shout for any gear requirement... yet it goes incredibly smooth.
This game is more about community than gear. It makes partying so easy since gear is easy to get and there are not many high gear checks. This is why I like it.
I'm a DRG main.
Most DRG are, well...hopeless. And that causes many people to think ALL DRG are derps.
Having gear that shows that I've completed certain content helps to "sell" me to groups. Unfortunately, most people don't know the Turn 4 drops :/ If only I could find a group for Turn 5 and get the Spear...but...I'm a DRG, not something many need for the earlier Turns, let alone T5...
This goes for all classes, IMO. If you have an item from Coil, especially from T4 or T5, it says that you at least have a good amount of knowledge about your class (esp lots of i90 and/or T5 drops IMO). Yeah, some characters with those are alt classes, but it at least shows they've been able to complete the Turn.
Of course, for my other classes I'm trying to gear up as best I can just to show others that I at least can do my job to the minimum. But, I've come across many instances where I've been lesser-geared than the other person in my role (generally Heal) and do better than them.
Skill is important, moreso when you know the people you are playing with. With randoms...you need to sell yourself, and gear is often a good place to start. Many people think that the more gear you have the better, but I've run into too many well-geared BRD who can't dodge for anything to know better.
Sounds so sad.I'm a DRG main.
