Yeah gear drops for low level unless you survive ridiculous amounts of waves...I was thinking actually it would be a random drop not even for your class, and it would be item level whatever wave you survived divided by two and you would have to roll for it, meaning it wouldn't be a cheap way of getting gear, but a very difficult one. Surviving just thirty waves will be difficult.
