    Necromancer Class Idea

Weapon: Dirk/Kris Long, ornamental daggers used more for rituals then actual combat.

    Entry Class: Ritualist [RIT]
A DPS job that focuses on placing status aliments on foes and summoning Skeletons to fight for them.

    Some Skill/Spell Ideas
    1. Skull Ritual: Summons a Skeleton to fight beside the summoner.
    2. Curse: Places a Curse debuff on target. The Curse Debuff slows down the inflicted's actions and has a DoT effect on it.
    3. Imperil: Places Imperial debuff on target. Imperil debuff lowers inflicted's Strengh and Defense.
    4. Mist: Places Mist debuff on target. Mist Debuff lowers inflicted's Magical Attack and Defense.
    5. Blood Oath: Places a Blood Oath buff on both the user and user's pet. Blood Oath buff continuously takes 8% of the user's HP and heals 8% of the pet's HP.

    Job: Necromancer [NCR]
A support DPS that focuses on reviving fallen comrades and buffing them. The fallen comrades will act as pseudo-pets, called a "Draugr", but instead of a being commanded, they will receive "Opus", which will increase one or more stat and decrease another. A Necromancer can only control one Draugr at a time and if/when they revive a second one, the first will fall (unless their Draugr buff has ended).

    Opus Menu:
When a Draugr is risen, the Necromancer will receive an additional hotkey-pad, similar to the Pet command pad, where they can access the Opuses. Opus work similarly to Conjurer's Cleric Stance, where it increases one or more of the Draugr's stats, while decreasing others. Only one Opus can be used at a time and must be manually canceled out by the Necromancer before another is used.
    Some Opus Ideas
-Berserker Opus: Increases the Draugr's Strength and Dexterity by 15% but decreases Vitality, Mind, and Intelligence by 20%. Draugr glows red.
-Magus Opus: Increases the Draugr's Intelligence by 20% but decreases Strength, Vitality, Dexterity, and Mind by 20%. Draugr glows purple.
-Sentinel Opus: Increases the Draugr's Vitality by 20% but decreases Dexterity, Intelligence, and Mind by 20%. Draugr glows blue.

    Skills Ideas
    1. Lich: Revives a fallen comrade to a weakened state. Also places "<Necromancer's Name>'s Draugr" buff on them. The Draugr buff will last for 30 minutes, the inflicted will return to normal, and will lose any Opus effects. Upon either the Buff ending or the Draugr dying again, they will receive a debuff called "Limbo" that will prevent them from coming back as Draugr for 5 minutes (Raise and Resurrect will still work, though).
    2. Vampire: Places "Vampire" buff on Draugr. Whenever a Draugr attacks with the Vampire buff on, for every time they physically attack a foe, they will receive 50% of that damage as HP.
    3. Dark Mist: Releases an AoE attack around Draugr that also places a Dark Mist DoT on enemies in range.
    4. Zombie: Places a Draugr buff on a selected party member.
    5. Death Release: Removes the Weaken Debuff from a Draugr. The Draugr will also receive the "Last Gift" buff, that will increase all of the Draugr's stats by 10% for 30 seconds. Then that 30 seconds are up, they will fall and receive the Limbo debuff.

I like it. Doesnt seem very final fantasy but i just like the idea of a necromancer is all.

In most FFs that Necromancers appear in, they summon undead monsters and use Dark Arts spells, which usually function as dark/non-elemental attacks that also debuff, so I used that as the base for the Ritualist class, while trying to expand the undead aspect of the Necromancer with the Draugr mechanic, so then it wouldn't end up as another Pet DPS like Arcanist/Summoner.

The opus gimmick is neat, but too niche to build a whole job around IMO. Also sort of weird in that you can intentionally die then get brought back and gain a damage buff.

Other than that my first thought is that "DoTs, debuffs, pets and a battle rez" sounds suspiciously similar to something we already have.

true but the game is also the furthest thing from a final fantasy game ever anyway it wouldnt hurt the game to actually add it or just remname summoner necromancer and redo summoner.

True Story: Dancer was a type of necromancer based off of the lore in FFXI.

The battle rez is suppose to be the main mechanic of the job though (plus, they still raise with a Weakened State). >A>()
I do have to give it to you that debuffs and DoTs are currently Summoners domain but it would be hard to figure out something else for Necromancers to do, seeing their track-record through out the FF franchise.
I also have to agree that the Opus system isn't perfect, it's just kind of a rough draft for ideas. >w>()

It seems more like zombies were brought back to dance versus actual Dancers being necromancers to me... >3>

    I can't argue with that... >w>
Why they couldn't make the Summons the focus of the Summoner versus DoTs and debuffs, other then the fact they use a Class => Job system and had to give the class something to do with out Summons, is kind of stupid, IMO. :B
