Since GLA 15 is required to unlock the job, all Warriors have acces to Provoke natively. It's not like Swifcast for White Mages.
If you choose not to equip it...well, your call

Provoke is one of those abilities that you don't understand how useful it really is until you have it. Being able to grab instant hate on ANY mob is invaluable. Even mobs that you haven't engaged yet. Yes, it doesn't work as well if you have DPS that don't know when to stop attacking, even when they've pulled hate, but it's still puts your threat at a point where you don't have to chase a mob around trying to BB or TH the crap out of it in vain. Plus, with a lot of bosses, as previously noted, it is essential due to tank swapping.
My only wish would be for them to add in an affect that would force the mob to attack you for maybe 5 seconds. Trying to pull an iron giant into position in the King Behemoth fight, for instance, is annoying even with provoke when you have DPS that want to unload immediately. You can provoke/tomahawk/run to the spot you're pulling to, but you'll still lose Aggro if a ranged won't wait until he follows you to that position.

Indeed.. You'd think the giant sword whacking half of everyone's health off would be a good hint to stop attacking for a second.Trying to pull an iron giant into position in the King Behemoth fight, for instance, is annoying even with provoke when you have DPS that want to unload immediately. at endgame yes. provoke is needed for tankswapping
needed for EX garuda for spiny plume mechanic. (base aggro for spiny plume is 100k enmity on a random target.)
tankswaps needed for EX titan and EX ifrit
normal method for turn 2 involves tankswaps.
you can tankswap for the first part of turn 5 to reduce the stress on the healers.
Dude to increasingly common tank swap mechanics I'd say for end game there is no possible way you can go without it. Get it as soon as you can and get used to it.
That makes sense now. Damn spiny. >.<
It's kinda funny, with so many people saying "it's for only a few fights". It's not, you're just derping it up relying on others.
Provoke is the single longest move you (or most classes for that matter) have, and not related to CD. Which makes you twice as effective pretty much doing anything essential. You basically have 2 hate moves instead of 1 on pull for the same duration, and you have the fastest reaction time for add spawn possible due to range.(coil1 is especially important)
It goes back to groaning whenever you get a war in ak.
Team: Pull the succubus and or Giant with provoke= War stands around doing nothing.
Provoke is all around useful, and sometimes critical.
