Thanks for that, that is a good small step in the right direction. Hopefully they add more and I'll come back to the game.Hahaha, if you really are rokien it's grand to see you don't even play the game you constantly trashed in the beta forums.
Treasure hunting - you gain a map from gathering, there are different tiers, lower tiers can be completed solo, higher tiers need at least four people. You get the map, it shows the zone with an x on it, go to an area near the x, dig, and a treasure chest appears. A few waves of mobs and then you get whatever is in the treasure chest. Low amounts of gil/tomes, minions, and craft/gather supplies.
This is the first step in the right direction of open world stuff, but it's not competition based like claims for kings were in 11.
Yeah that's cool and I like that, though, that might beIf it were expanded upon, it could be epic. Imagine competition treasure maps using the Alliance system. Three different parties each have their own piece of the map, they bring it together to begin a race for the treasure. Or maybe it can be cooperative as opposed to competitive. Either way, it can be AWESOME.
"too stressful" for yoshi.
There is open world content. They added treasure hunts and daily quests in this patch and more stuff will be in every patch to follow.
But I don't want "pve competition." There is plenty of that in fighting over who gets dungeon drops. Any other competitive desire can be sated by PvP.

You know what we need? more FATEs like Odin and Behemoth. Even some that are targeted for low-mid leveled players. We need hidden secrets scattered through the world, open world mini games (gold saucer is a start), open world dungeons like in 1.xx, and an alliance treasure hunt as mentioned would be amazing...it could reward tomes, gil, crafting items, and some decent gear. Maybe these could only be made so that you can participate in one once a day. Because of course something so fun will have lockouts >_>
Love the hidden secrets thing. The game world is huge but you have 0 incentive to really explore it. I really like how ffxi had Notorious Monsters, you didn't have to kill them, but you got a pretty good reward if you did. They really need to focus on crafting materials and player crafted armor to stimulate the economy. For instance certain mobs dropped a venomous claw in ffxi, these were the main ingredient in a bonecraft synth that made the scorpion harness. Scorpion Harnesses had stats that beat any equip at that levels stats, and were pretty much a must have for evasion classes (thief/ninja). You didn't need to have it, but if you took pride in your job you worked toward one. Items like this make gil valuable. The market is very weak, very little places to make large sums of money, very little incentive to make any more because you don't have anything to spend it on.You know what we need? more FATEs like Odin and Behemoth. I'd like to see more instance content involve open world content... I hate Primals as they are now, they're utterly pathetic with the Duty Finder... I didn't like farming items for Lou back in 1.x, but at least it made the game more playable... Then we have dungeons. OK, they're not open world, but they could easily involve it; Here's a dungeon which you have to enter from its entrance (gasp!), the dungeons story involves some angry badgers in the dungeon or something, in order to enter the dungeon, a FATE near the entrance must be completed which involves clearing a path to the dungeon through all the angry badgers spawning from it. Thinking about it, that's kind of like one of my suggestions for Odin/Behemoth...
Heck, maybe they could just add a Platinum reward for certain FATEs; only one party may earn it, and when they do they get the option to enter a dungeon/trial/Guildhest style event...

open world content can be farmed by bots and gil sellers so SE will never give us any truly valuable open world encounters. blame lazy people who buy gil
I don't really consider them to be in the same category as Odin and Behemoth. I mean something that absolutely requires a TON of players to take down and something that feels like a bit of an accomplishment. Given that FATEs require you to level sync if your level is too high, I don't think it would be hard to achieve this for SE. Incentive for high level players could be tomes, furniture items, vanity gear, etc. And I'd rather see more iconic Final Fantasy monsters be part of these FATEs; perhaps a giant Cactuar that charges a skill called "10,000 Needles" when its HP gets too low, Anima, Evil Chocobo, or maybe a Possessed Moogle.....you get the point, lol.
nevermind.....
