I'm not saying you're wrong. Those are valid points achieved by a simple change of attitude, but at the same time, you can maintain this appeal without power progression. Power progression by its nature means those on the bottom have a lower chance of winning than those at the top. It does nothing but create this sort of hazing period before you're actually allowed to compete on even grounds.
Unfortunately vanity isn't enough for a lot of people.

Everyone has/had the same oppertunity to get pvp gear, and everyone started with nothing. There are optional modes which ignore PvP stats which you can choose to play if pvp gear bothers you. skillful play and strong teamwork can overcome the differences.

I also don't agree with the "everyone's a winner" attitude. If you want to be a winner, get you butt in gear and earn it. This is completely ignoring the fact that the impact of gear differences in PvP is being strongly overstated. This is an MMO, there needs to be progression. Vanity items offer no progression.

Lv30/40 PvP level syncs everyone's gear to the same ilvl, and PvP gear has no benefit. You can play these modes for the level playing field you're begging for. If you can't take the fire, get out of the frying pan.

    That much is obvious.

It was a fun argument while it lasted, at least.
