Part of me says if you want fast queues, you need to be a tank or healer. If continuing to wait as DPS or switching to tank or healer is asking too much then you should play a different game like an offline RPG so you can always be doing things with practically no waiting times (basically just load screens).

Another part of me thinks SE should have had more DPS slots. If SE had 8 man parties with 1 tank 1 healer and 6 DPS then queue times would be much more even. I played an online RPG that basically had a 1 healer 5 DPS requirement and 1 tank 1 healer 4 DPS requirements. Getting tanks for the 1 tank 1 healer 4 DPS quests was sometimes a problem but DPS didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes usually as opposed to 20 minutes - 90 minutes in ARR.

I used to be tank because of the queue times and that's what my free company wanted. I am probably changing to DPS because I enjoy DPS. Even though I can tank alright, I don't always enjoy it and struggle with things like snap enmity and multitasking. I hate multitasking things like managing adds, stacks, DOTs, statuses, etc. I am doing BLM DPS because it is more reactive and rotation based. I don't see SE ever changing the party set up. But the wait times are discouraging to the many players that like the DPS play style and waiting will cause some people to leave. You can't cater to everyone and the game isn't for everyone but the 1 tank 1 healer 2 DPS decision might not have been the best.
