    [Summoner] Questions

    I can't find any Q & A Summoner thread so I created this.

Is it just me or Contagion takes too long queue before the pet actually uses it? This is in Obey stance btw.

    Edit:
Ugh. Can I request for a direct thread title change? I don't want to create a multiple thread everytime I have a question regarding the class, so ye.

Your pet has to finish his previous cast in order to cast contagion. You can put him in passive mode just before using contagion so it goes "instantly".

Same with Enkindle... except if you use contagion followed directly by Ekindle => your pet will never cast his "ultimate" and Enkindle will be in CD

Garuda/Carby have some windup using contagion but it shouldn't matter at all. The only way it would be a problem is if you were using it when a dot had like 4 seconds left and dropped off first, instead you should be using it just after you've applied them all, or if it comes off CD with them all having 10+ seconds left.

You should also watch RS's timer since you want it and contagion available at the same time

    Is RS "Rouse"?
If so, how does it affect Contagion?

Thanks for the priority in the other thread btw.

RS = Raging Strikes. If you buff your damage then apply DoTs, those DoTs deal more damage. You want to use Contagion on those buffed DoTs, so they last longer and you get more damage out of your RS cooldown.

    Oh, yea I knew that.
Just forgot about the cross class in the discussion. My bad.

Bumping this thread and edited the title as well.

    Just a follow-up question,

    - Do I need to keep spamming Ruin when I already putted all DoTs on the target or just focus on the timers? Or a couple of Ruin II can do the job? Specifically when it's during mobbing.

    - Should I re-cast Shadow Flare once the first one's duration is finished? I always use Swiftcast > Shadow Flare during engage and I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing. Basically, most of my Swiftcasts were spent for Shadow Flare.

SMN pet is roughly 33% SMN dmg. Testing Ruin spam on one Striking Dummy v Garuda on obey on another Striking Dummy and Ruin spam is roughly 15-20% stronger than Garuda. I'd say Ruin/Ruin II between DOTs is a nice little chunk of SMN's DPS. The only time you shouldn't cast Ruin/Ruin II between DOTs is if you are low on MP and need to DOT multiple mobs. Since the dmg from DOTs is going to do WAY more dmg and isn't scaled to MP cost compared to the dmg increase. But if you are running into MP issues then you should be casting Energy Drain instead of Fester.

Shadow Flare is also a DOT and should be renewed every time it expires like the rest of your DOTs whether you use Swiftcast or not. I also don't recommend using Shadow Flare with Swiftcast either. You might boost your DPS by a couple points, but that's pretty minimal. Doing it at the start of the fight is fine, but anyone doing that constantly really doesn't care about the overall benefit of the party and only cares about showing off on a parser. Having Swiftcast available for a quick Summon or Resurrection is far more valuable in case someone decides to go Full Retard.
