I will say this, I have never been in a group where someone tried to tell me my dps was lacking. Our guild does use the parsers, and yet I always hear how OP summoners dps is, and most of our groups want a summoner in their coil party (I think only one of our 9 coil groups don't have a sum). People need to stop looking and staring at the parsers and start paying attention to what is actually happening.
IMO, parsers are only useful to help figure out acc cap, parry cap, and things like that. For actual dps, since everything isn't recorded in the battle log, It will NEVER be accurate. How can it figure out my Bio spell is doing 200 damage or 250? It can't, it's not recorded, so it guesses. And if it's going to guess, then it can't be accurate.
They are idiots, remove you self from that group, find another, carry on.
I would gladly trade another summoner nerf for a reliable way to track down our damages and maybe a way to include our pet's dps to our own.
Edit: btw can someone tell me what is the most accurate parser for a SMN?

I've only encountered this rarely on XIV but as a PUP and SMN (who actually USED the avatars from start) on XI, I've gotten a lot of this and it just astounds me.

While translation is a large part of our job, what is not known by many is that the EN localization team plays a large role in the creation of a lot of in-game terminology and lore which is then localized back into Japanese (with liberties often taken by the Japanese team so that the text might appear more appealing to their target Japanese audience).
No, I've never had this issue, my SMN damage alone (not even counting pet) is usually equal to or only slightly behind the other dps in party, then I get to add in pet, and I'm 30K+ dmg ahead, so wow.
I have never not been well over the top after adding in pet dmg, so when you say you are "near the top end", you probably are doing subpar dmg.
I encounter many mediocre/terrible SMNs in game, makes me cringe every time I see another SMN in group, with equal or many times better gear, do half my dmg.
I was maining BLM till I got the Allagan SMN book and decided to play around with it, picked up the rotation aspect after first day and never had any issues topping the dps charts.
They're just trolling.
There's absolutely no reason why the damage done by your pet wouldn't "count".
Just ignore them and move on.
I want people to count Foes reqium's bonus damage as mine D:
Just ask "OK so who does get credit for that damage?"
Really what it boils down to is, parsers are total bs and you shouldn't waste your time. Most of the people who use them have no clue how to properly read them.
For some folks who are truly good at running the numbers, sure they can tweak their performance some but realistically its not going to make that much of a difference once you already know the commonly used rotation of powers for a class.
