As a BLM, I count my pet tank into my dps mix. The only issue is BLM pet upkeep can be such a headache sometimes.
Some people are very stupid. Anytime a pug tells me my dps is slow I tend to ask "and what about Garuda+me?" At which point my damage goes from being just above the bards to above everyone else's. Even if the parsers are inaccurate if it helps other people stop asking stupid questions I'm fine with it.

Are parsers even tracking dot crits properly now? I know they still don't track shadowflare at all, but it'd be nice if they at least tracked our actual dot damage not the projected damage that I believe they used to show.
On topic, I've never had anyone tell me that, so my condolences. Not much you can do there besides accept the fact that some people are stupid and carry on.
They don't track Contagion, DoT crits or Shadow Flare. They also only estimate non-crit DoT damage, so it may be close, but it will never be truly accurate. Are parsers even tracking dot crits properly now? ACT estimates DoT crits based on the crits of all your other damage output. The only thing ACT does not track is Contagion or Shadow Flare.
I will say this, I have never been in a group where someone tried to tell me my dps was lacking. Our guild does use the parsers, and yet I always hear how OP summoners dps is, and most of our groups want a summoner in their coil party (I think only one of our 9 coil groups don't have a sum). People need to stop looking and staring at the parsers and start paying attention to what is actually happening.
IMO, parsers are only useful to help figure out acc cap, parry cap, and things like that. For actual dps, since everything isn't recorded in the battle log, It will NEVER be accurate. How can it figure out my Bio spell is doing 200 damage or 250? It can't, it's not recorded, so it guesses. And if it's going to guess, then it can't be accurate.
LOL i love this response. People are too stupid to do simple math and add two numbers together. Like stated multiple times, anyone who thinks that a pet class' pet damage doesn't count, is just an imbecile. The pet wouldnt be there if you weren't. and you would be RIDICULOUSLY op if you pulled the same numbers that a geared group was doing, and THEN added in your pet.
Not to mention in every other MMO (ie. WoW, Rift, Aion, etc.) you don't see people saying "your pet doesn't count".
They are idiots, remove you self from that group, find another, carry on.
I would gladly trade another summoner nerf for a reliable way to track down our damages and maybe a way to include our pet's dps to our own.
Edit: btw can someone tell me what is the most accurate parser for a SMN?
