While I haven't experienced this on this game, I have had this experience on the original Guild Wars. I was in a guild were the guild leader and all of the guild members (excluding myself) went AWOL for 3 months. No word, nothing. After 90 days, guild leadership was automatically transferred to the senior-most guild member. This continued on for a couple of months until the automated system transferred leadership of the guild to me. Now in control, I wanted to see the guild revitalized, there were plenty players in the game who were not in a guild. So I set a guild message in the instance that the former leader would return that I intended to make some changes after 30 days. One member logged on for a minute once or twice, but made no effort to communicate with me. Then, when the 30 days elapsed the aforementioned player starts hounding me, but when I say "Okay, let's talk" I get no reply from them and they log off. This continues for a couple of weeks and I begin to get frustrated. Finally, fed up, I just transfer guild leadership over before leaving that guild. I haven't joined a guild in that game since then. Though I haven't honestly played Guild Wars in a couple of years, though I did log on a couple of months ago for "birthday items".
