    What arguments are there against Archer ranged auto attack?

    1. They will break CC, bind, sleep.
    - This potential is still there for all other battle classes with auto attack
    - Coding the game to resolve these issues, as they were laid out in the battle mechanics changes was brought up in the battle reform blue print.

    Auto-attack and Other Systems

    * Auto-attack

    We will be implementing auto-attack. As the workload for this is expected to be considerable, however, the feature will be introduced in stages alongside revisions for other systems.

    For the first stage, we will implement the core mechanics of auto-attack and perform provisional adjustments to the accompanying damage algorithm. The next stage, planned to take place after the aforementioned crowd control and action/skill revisions, will involve a fine-tuning of the auto-attack algorithm. Other algorithms will also undergo revisions, which will be explained further below. In so doing, we hope to further draw out the unique flavor of each weapon. At this same time, we will also carry out motion and other graphical revisions to accommodate auto-attack.
    What flavor do archers get? Another weapon to taste.

    I played rng in XI and auto-attack close with melee weapon and manual shot control just works plain and simple if you never played rng in xi i guess you couldnt understand, Xenor.
    What about people that dont currently play that the developers are... trying to attract. Do you think many will accept that answer or just move onto other games?

    if you dont like how archer plays just dont play archer,play a different class, I dont like mage classes much so i dont play them.
    Imo this is final fantasy and this move follows in the steps of its mmo origins which is XI so it just seems perfectly fitting to me.
    I was high lvl rng and loved the style in that ff so I wouldnt expect archer in this FF to be any other way.

    That is just a cop out answer. What about these guys growing the game further? This is a step back in every sense. A ranged class gets auto attack only to a melee weapon, that does not currently exist, instead of auto attack on the ranged weapon they are using. That just sounds so stupid I cant even think of expressing to anyone that they should play this game. Why? Its just poor design because they want to take an easy way out with new changes coming.

    Fine it fits you, I dont care, I just wont play this game anymore, and I hate this community of clinging fanboys that want to take game design backwards. It is 2011, 9 months after launch by the way. Game is still free and still sucks. This is just more garbage down the chute.

    Why would any archer not want to have control over when they loose? that sounds dumb to me, but opinions are like aholes as they say, you gave yours now wipe and please flush before you leave! XD

    The purpose of giving archers a melee autoattack is to give them some means of defending themselves when the mob loses bind and charges up close.
    The real purpose of giving archer melee auto attack is because they are trying to shoehorn in code and this was their only fast solution.

    The reason you just stated is ridiculous. We should stay out of range of a mob, hence being ranged DPS. If a mobs in our face we are pulling too much enmity and should let a tank to take it or bind and run.

    Also Ms. Taka archer with AA doesnt change much if you stay back its the same as it was.

    I would think applying universal code takes far less time to code and test than writing individual scripts for every class. And when there's already so much on their to-do list... I don't really see how it's a problem.
