I'm personally not very impressed by the video. They had said on many occasions that Auto Attack in FFXIV would be a much faster paced affair then what was seen in FFXI and from what I saw that is certainly not the case. While it's somewhat hard to tell because of them using a skill every 5 seconds it looked like in between the attacks were taking far to long. That was the great thing about the current battle system in FFXIV. It was very fast paced and exciting despite it's many issues. The auto attack system looks to be boring and mundane just like FFXI ended up being after awhile.

They really need to up the speed of the attacks and modify the damage they do based on the weapon. But I guess they may still tweak it as Yoshi-P did say that it was content still under development.

Well I'm sure they worked really hard on it, and I'm sure it will make a worthwhile addition to the game, but at the same time it's not exactly 'impressive'.

Can you quote me where I said anything about 'basic functions'? I believe I typed basic memory management, which once again is nothing to do with the server side interface and everything to do with the client side of things...
