I like the sword-attacking animations and the skills look cool. The battle speed is fine and i'm really looking forward for this.
I still don't like the typical MMORPG-UI for the battle commands. I prefer the classic FF -UI.

That's because in most MMO's Auto attack is just an afterthought. Sure, it's there. Is it even a consideration? Nope. Doesn't generally do damage worth paying attention to and serves no other purpose, combat is all about using your abilities.
As of now, that's not what AA looks to do in XIV. It controls our TP gauge, and thus our level of downtime. If we have a consistent stream of TP that we don't have to worry about running out of, then sure, it'll be fine... but they why have TP at all?
Never base combat around something you, the player, aren't even actively a part of.
Now, if it does turn out that we can just hit skills throughout battle, then I won't complain, AA will just sit in the background, which is fine. It'll work just like City of Heroes combat does. I just don't see that being the case at this point.

SE does not care about these little things anymore. You can tell me i'm stupid, but having a fraps video inside a zone you've never seen would hype the upcoming patch up very hard.
And now we're reading lots of people saying they're disappointed by this letter and the video....
Little things can make differences!
BTW 6 months for a 2 minutes fraps video, cool.
Someone get a frame by frame analysis on this thing stat, because I still can't tell how the auto-attack is activating/working other than "bam bam I poke you bam bam!"
fraps is a very technical thing, they needed to employ extra staff just to make that video popdai.
How many times can they mess up pre-order codes?!?
I agree they had a good opportunity to show off one of the new dungeons, too bad though.
One of the first things to pop into my head was people watching TV and not paying attention.Time to start sleeping at my keyboard again *sigh*.
Auto-attack is pretty much as expected. My Pug's going to be a lot slower than before but oh well, at least I can spend more time focusing on my skills instead of returning to 1/1 constantly.
My only problem with the video is that they didn't even try to make it look really exciting. The player used all of what, 3 skills in each? I don't know about anyone else but I tend to use skills and abilities a lot more frequently.
The question is: Did they only use the three effects to show off new animations?Auto-attack is pretty much as expected. My Pug's going to be a lot slower than before but oh well, at least I can spend more time focusing on my skills instead of returning to 1/1 constantly.
