idk why people are complaining AA looks slow, 3-4 seconds for an attack isn't that slow at all considering haste isn't even in the game yet.

because when you swing and stand around looking at the mob for 3-4 seconds it just looks stupid. A quicker AA would be a lot more interesting to watch, something maybe that looks like an actual battle. There's no reason really to have it be as slow as it is except to make the game seem slower. They could make the AA faster and balance it by lowering damage and TP gain. In the end attacks would do as much damage, and gain as much TP in the same amount of time, it would just be more exciting to look at.
yeah, i hope they will do that, its just the looks that make it bad imo, double the rate and it won't feel like the ffxi waiting.because when you swing and stand around looking at the mob for 3-4 seconds it just looks stupid. Personally, I feel like it was only a sample of the system and a preview of animations and weapon skills to come. I think in a group of 4-8 battle will seem far faster that what it did in the video. Between all the hits we will be casting our buffs and getting ready, or watching for a EVADE or a PARRY so that we can use a skill dependent on those. Basically, we have to get our hands on the AA first to make a clear decision.
I'm going to have to agree with the auto-attack looking slow. Mentioning FFXIV is pretty much a sin around my friends due to its bad start, but I went ahead and showed a friend this anyway talking about how they're overhauling the game, and sadly I agree with what he said. It looks pretty (ie. weaponskills), but the combat looks way too slow.

Have you ever tried swinging a broadsword for a minute in rapid succession?because when you swing and stand around looking at the mob for 3-4 seconds it just looks stupid. A quicker AA would be a lot more interesting to watch, something maybe that looks like an actual battle.

Since when was anything in this game about realism? Have you ever tried casting cure when your MP is low... ? Oh Snap!Read, then post.something maybe that looks like an actual battle

Think, then reply. The other poster asked for an exciting and true to life battle. You then threw in the realism card by asking if he ever tried swinging a broadsword for a minute in quick succession. That is what the stamina bar was for. It's been removed and now we have FFXI like delays between attacks. He thinks it looks stupid because... and please pay attention here... why would a monster stand and watch you for 3 - 4 seconds while you ready your next attack? If it was a 'real' battle, why would you stand still while preparing your attack if the monster in all probability would also be preparing an attack, wouldn't you want to move? ETC.
Gnarly you are not.
How many times can they mess up pre-order codes?!?
Seems about the same speed as the current battle system to me.
