This is such a general question, but here are some common sense tips that most newbie tanks I see appreciate:

1. Face cleaving mobs away from your party.
2. Ranged mobs won't run to you like melee mobs do. Stand near ranged mobs to AoE or use corners to line of sight pull and stack them together.
3. Provoke only gives you top enmity + 1. Use it sparingly, don't rely on it for sticky aggro, even with a Tomahawk/Shield Lob.
4. Don't be afraid to cycle your cooldowns often, even on trash.
5. Interrupting enemy abilities increases Limit Break bar.
6. You can walk behind many enemies to avoid their abilities. Try different things out if you're new to the dungeon.
7. RARELY is kiting the 'best' strategy. More often than not, your job as a tank is to stand still and hold aggro. Do everyone a favor and minimize your movement.
