I believe they mentioned it is going to be coming at some point, so many people asking for it, but no idea when.

I've also spread the points around, and while i'll never be maxing one line, at least before redoing them is possible, i kind of like how flexible he is this way. Probably since i like to work on different classes at different times.

I think an interesting (and rather easy) stop-gap measure for this would be for SE to introduce a special barding for those who didn't put all their SP into one role on their chocobo (after all, there was absolutely no warning at the start that putting SP into one particular role gives you the barding for that 'Job' at rank 10, so a lot of players played it safe and min-maxed instead. Like me. ). Red Mage barding would be appropriate for this - you know, the whole 'jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none' idea. ). At least until SE allows players to reset SP on their chocobos anyway.

I put 1 point into tanking stance (I was a conjurer, it seemed to make sense) before I found out you have to put all your points into one stance to get the barding. I want the awesome white mage barding, not the stupid looking tanking junk. If I had known this information before, I never would have put a point into tanking. I have been so disappointed by this; I have not touched the companion system since. I don't care how it is done (point reset item, more points so we can max one and have some left over for other stances, cook your current chocobo and get a new one), just give me a way to be able to get the white mage barding, please.

I only found out the other day when I saw someone running around with the DRG barding... I was so happy you could get it... and then I found out told i couldn't get it because I allocated SP across all classes.

Please fix this SE I want my DRG barding! QQ

They've said a way to reset their skill points is definitely coming. On top of that the chocobo breeding thing for housing will likely allow you to have more than one chocobo (the current companions UI is clearly designed for you to have more than one). Hell it even says companionS plural.

While I wouldn't discount it, I actually think it would be more interesting for there to be no explicit skill reset for chocobos but rather have chocobo breeding take the place of it. Essentially, you would be able to buy additional chocobos which arrive with no rank, and level them up as normal. When you wish to breed your chocobos, you choose the two and the new chocobo (which hatches and then grows after a time, or not, depending upon whether and how long they want you to wait) has the average rank of the two chocobos you bred. As such, if you've got a rank 10 with entirely distributed stats, you could breed it with a "fresh" chocobo immediately and get a step up to getting a new rank 10 chocobo (for the barding) since it would be rank 5.

If the bardings are shared across all of your chocobos and you simply choose which chocobo you want to be using at the stable, you'd be able to get all of the bardings, eventually, by simply working multiple chocobos to rank 10 (in fact, you could get whatever chocobo distribution you wanted by getting 2 chocobos to 10, though I would probably to prevent you from allowing inbreeding, mostly for squick, so you'd probably have to level up from 1 to 10 twice).
