SE: Ban RMT by checking blacklist counts

I think a good way to ban RMT is to check how many people blacklisted a certain player. If it's like 100 or more people with that player on their blacklist - they should get the ban. I mean, if someone goes into town and starts shouting spam over and over - everyone is going to blacklist them and it won't take too long before the numbers add up.

I joined a new server this weekend and I already have dozen people on my black list - it's ridiculous. If there is a way to count how many times a player is put on a blacklist, it would be nice to use that to suspend accounts. If there is not a system in place, I think utilizing a feature like this would be a good place to start.

The only downside would be if someone was really hated that people could convince enough people to blacklist them to get the ban, but I don't see this happening.

Do know some accounts are compromised so banning through blacklist is the wrong way to go about it. People also blacklist those who spam emotes regularly as well.

I would hazard to say most (if not all) of the spam tells are from compromised accounts.
This is why we should always use the authenticator and use a decent password.
It also helps to have your SE account name to not be your in-game name.

Calling people out by name, you're gonna get banned from the forum!!

I think it would be great to disable their account (at least tells/shouts/yells) if it reaches a certain blacklist number, but banning would be open season for abuse.

if people's accounts get compromised then its their fault and the ban is warranted imo. they were either

A. giving out their info to people which is a violation of the TOS and ban worthy

OR

B. browsing websites with keyloggers, which are most typically the sites that sell bots and gil, and while just looking in itself isnt a bannable offense, people should take more care with their internet browsing and security, so i have no sympathy if they get an unwarranted ban, if it was really an accident they should be able to get the account back

OR

C. they actually purchased something through RMT and were stupid enough to give the account info to the RMT'ers, BAN HAMMER WARRANTED

case and point, dont be stupid and your account wont get compromised, i fully support the OP's suggestion, my blacklist is still full of gil sellers that i put on there in the first week of early access. and honestly, whether they are RMT or not, there should be a punishment for getting blacklisted too many times. if you are a legit player and on more than one person's blist you are most like a toxic member of the community that is better off banned

Another dumb idea, what happens when a large FC with 300 player dont like another FC and they get all their member to then blacklist every member from the FC they dont like? Chaos...

Then an FC with many members that did not like someone could add people they wanted banned to their blacklist. The possibility of abuse would be great and many people would end up getting banned unrelated to RMT.
