Thanks so much for the screenshot! My suspicion is that the red-backed ones are, like the genus, called Gigantoads, the pale-backed ones are Nixes, and the blue one, Nether Nix, is a regular Nix that has been affected by the Aurum Vale's toxic atmosphere. The green one... I haven't found the green one yet. I like to at least have a guess at all models before I add them to the chart. Anybody know where the green one is?

I'm thinking they're wavekin, as well. If they were beastkin, they'd be the only not-mammal beastkin I've seen.

I'm *pretty certain* that it appears in the quest Salvaging the Scene. However, youtube is being uncooperative in trying to track down video evidence.

I'm excited to get to work on this undertaking. In 1.0 I did a lot of working on the monster moves. Since I just got my good computer and brought it with me this time to grad school, I plan to get a lot of data on attacks again. But while I'm working on that, I'll be supplying pictures and data for this project.

Bump for food for thought:

There is a FATE in the East Shroud titled Bush Blade. In it, the boss, Volxia of the Blade, shouts battle cries of "Tonight, the spoken ones die!" or something to the effect.

Would this imply that the Sylphs do not consider themselves Spoken?

I had that same exact thought when I first saw it...

Spoken: Ixal, kobolds, sylphs, the 5 races of Eorzea, etc.

We've still got Ferne on our side, but, as I said before, a few things aren't the same in-game right now as they were when he made that post (although, to be fair, Squenix was under a massive time crunch to get ARR out as product-confidence-boostingly soon as possible, so perhaps a few nuances slipped by here and there and we've yet to report them properly).

Also, I've still yet to find my green toad. Been trying to challenge the jellyfish and ghosts - but while I think the blue ones are aurelia and the red ones are sea wasps, I've yet to find any proof of the line-up... and though it at first seems pretty clear cut that yellow ghosts are bogies and blue ghosts are revenants, the ghosts in Copperbell disagree...

Bah, I do suppose this was the wrong thread for that. I simply meant that the Sylphs don't think that of themselves, not that they truly aren't Spoken.

It certainly brings up a different view of inter-beast tribe relations and philosophies, but doesn't belong here, where we're trying to collect actual information. Sorry!

In an effort to actually contribute to the thread, I will aid in your search for the green toad.

I'm by no means an expert on this sort of stuff, but perhaps the tempered Sylphs consider themselves above the Spoken races because they've been tempered by Ramuh? I mean, in their eyes they've been chosen by their god to perform his will, so perhaps they see themselves as having risen above being a member of the Spoken races. It certainly wouldn't be the first time in a FF game that a person/group chosen by their god considered themselves above everyone else.

EDIT: Apologies is this is derailing the topic a bit. I just read Wolf's last post and the thought came to me, haha.

Hey, this thread is for all things mobs and even derailing keeps it alive. Threads like this last a long time, and part of what makes them enjoyable is the freedom to take a page here and there to discuss something that catches your eye. Derail away! Also, yes, please keep an eye out for that stupid toad. I'm thinking it might be a FATE... that's where I found one of the unique sandworms.
