So looking at the PvP skills, it seems we've got 10 action points (30 ranks @ 1 action point per rank/ 3 action points per upgrade) to spend in PvP. For building individual jobs, I get that, and I like that people are given scarce resources to make creative combat choices, but the points are shared across all jobs right?
As it stands, to afford the reset item, it'll cost 4,950 wolf marks (99 wins worth at an average 50 marks/win). Hypothetically, if I win every match (an impossible scenario), and if each match averages about 7 minutes (5 minutes of combat and 2 minute wait time), that puts it at almost 12 hours of grind without any breaks (not even wc) just to play another class viably in PvP. Also, this hypothetical assumes that all DFs queue instantly, which is also quite impossible. Understanding that, the actual time to get to a skill reset is more likely 25-40 hours (assuming an average 7-15 minute queue) of grind depending on your chosen job, then add another 30 or so hours if you PUG your PvP (assuming around a 50% win ratio from that), totaling upwards of 70 hours to get the reset. Ironic since if you are aiming for a skill reset, it means you either have realized don't like that job in PvP, or you've screwed up your skill build and find it unfavorable... so SE wants you to continue to hate PvP for another ~30-70 hours before willing to let you even consider changing your setup.
So... does anyone else find this ridiculously limiting? I understand the need to 'work' for vertical progression (i.e. getting the skill points in the first place, grinding armors, etc.) in order to keep the shiny-object-chasers playing, but why on earth is SE limiting horizontal availability (changing between jobs for content) so much? I thought half the point of this game was that I didn't need to make alts to have access to content.
Even if they want to use the skill reset to funnel people into jobs (for reasons totally beyond me), why make it so incredibly expensive?
If you too are put off by this, please post your disgruntled feelings here. That is all.
