I'm kind of miffed there is a limit to any specific type of furniture item (bath tub for example). It's my house, I should be able to put what I want where I want. Anyone else ever play EQ2? The housing there is on point in there are a LOT of items and you can put them however you want.

Perhaps also a preview so I don't have to search Google to find out what something looks like. An item limit increase and a 2nd floor for small houses would also be appreciated. I can see it from the street but there's no way up there inside, which means all small houses have hidden attics full of weird horror movie things.

This has probably been mentioned already, but I'd really like a "The Unending Journey" book/journal item (like the one thats in the inn rooms) as a house item, so I can watch cutscenes in my own home.

    Back for more!

    Hello all again!

(no TLDR, because I mean every point I make)

Just another plea to SE to possibly consider upgrading the current housing system to be similar to Rifts.

    1. Do in all honesty I expect this change?...sadly no, small/simple scale seems to be the norm so far.

    2. Do i really really hope that housing does become as good as Rifts? ....oh yes and better!

Hence the occasional reminder for SE to show others what we are missing!!

Here are some pics of my dimensions, just a few tidbits to show that in Rift anything is possible, in any scale as well, unfortunately here, looking at one home is the same as any other pretty much.

    http://mistymews.imgur.com/all/

Now I adore Rift for dimensions (but just for dimensions) and yes I do go in and make new ones whenever the creative bug starts scratching so plz dont say "then go play rift!"...because I do!

BUT, I love the graphics so much more in ffxiv, they are far superior to Rift, SE has some wonderful artistic talent.....the limited design we have UI wise, item limit wise, and with no building blocks available, tiny yards and homes to work with etc, it is a shame...a waste of that talent!

It also is a wasted opportunity of player talent and a sense of creativity.

    We cant truly create ....anything.

    We have no control in creating a specific theme/atmosphere, weather, we cant design a palace...a cave, a pool, a wet bar, a carnival, a desert landscape, a sauna, a lighted dance floor, a jungle,...a waterfall over a cliff...no glow effects, fairy sparkle...floating leaves or pixie dust effects, no lightning strikes, no time of day control, our own ocean to SWIM in, we cant add rainbows, hollow log bridges and the list goes on and on forever ;;

We cant morph...anything, we cant "build' anything.

We can place premade items in predetermined space in a predetermined style...but hey we can spin it

We cant even squish an item tight to a wall without the indicator appearing that it cant be placed there ...Oo eeek!

Placing a counter along side a table is .....rather plain and isnt the type of combos I personally prefer -.-

Players are trying, the thread on combos shows ppl are trying and willing to attempt to make it work, they most certainly are trying to be creative and express themselves (which is excellent to see!) but ultimately , the combos possible here are far too limited.

SE can do better then this and so can we! They have unlimited talent ideas and are so very good at making environments/textures etc, give them to us to use! Housing is somewhat new for them but don't think so small please!

All environments in the game are totally controlled by SE, they should be and that's expected ,they do a great job !

BUT imo housing is the one area of content that should be wide open for what the player wants.
Let us create a castle, a crystal filled cave to live in, a swamp perhaps, a vacation style resort, a snow laden cabin, maybe a tree house, or an Ifrit themed firey cavern of doom...perhaps a continual rain storm outside, or a blizzard, lightening, strong winds or a gentle breeze in a meadow setting.. a complete Christmas village, a spooky Halloween haunted house, let us add strings of lights on windows and eves!

I implore those who make the decisions at SE, let us determine what we want to live in, and the entire atmosphere we want to portray to others.

I realize it would be a massive change and a lot of work, in the end however the longevity of housing, the interest beyond ....coloring a chocobo or a few veges grown is worth it. It can only add to the interest and time spent in housing areas overall.

I hope SE just needs a nudge in the right direction to make housing a complex and engaging thing...something players can construct and redo to suit their tastes exactly.

Premade stuff is great and needed but we lack oodles of possible building blocks and the proper UI control to achieve this

    I also realize some players are fine with housing as is, and that's excellent, but for those that do know what we are missing, its just not satisfying enough. ;;

Please SE make ffxiv the best!

Thanks for all the feedback! The Community Teams were busy in Tokyo over the last week, and we have been playing catch up. Alas I was able to get some answer to your requests!

The development team thinks dyeing wallpapers is a brilliant idea, and they have looked into it, but the game mechanic to change the color of wallpaper is not available. They would need to work on creating this mechanic first before they can implement this feature.

At the moment it's uncertain whether this would be possible from a technical standpoint, and the dev. team needs to see if this project can be added to their schedule. They don’t want to make any promises, but they will be looking into it!

It turns out that stacking large outdoor furnishings is something that is quite difficult to accomplish with the current game mechanics, so they are thinking to prepare a giant outdoor furnishing that will allow players to climb up high.

The development team is brainstorming on what kind of object they should prepare for easy rooftop access, so please hang in there just a bit longer.

After an internal discussion, it turns out that implementing a feature that allows lighting in houses to be adjusted will require more development time than what they had first thought, so they will need a bit longer for this.

They are working on this feature along with the huge task of Heavensward, so this will be implemented sometime after 3.0. The development team has assured me that they are indeed working on this, so please look forward to it!

As for the remaining requests, rest assured that we have forwarded all of them to the development team for consideration.

    Keep the feedback coming!

As for an item that allows us to reach the rooftop, how about adding an item to the fixtures category. Instead of an awning or a side-chimney, a winding set of stairs affixed to the side of the house that allows us to walk to the top?

Something more concealable would be better I think. A sort of ADS Launch Pad. Even something like a Garuda wind generator that lifts you up. My GF mentioned adding a fixed ladder to every house (sort of like the front door) that you click on which puts you up on the roof. A giant brayflox tower would start getting pretty tacky "towering" over everyones front yards (^_^ ;; )

I just wish we could change the damn paneling as absolutely nothing matches the old lady grandma house paneling in Oasis.

Seriously, remove the restrictions on certain items that cannot be removed. There is no reason why these items MUST be destroyed to be removed. If I don't want to use them anymore and want to store them, there should be no reason why I should be restricted to keep them out just because there is a ridiculous policy in effect.
