I would love to be able to partition narrow spaces without having to use something like the locker or jamming together wood slats to make it work.We could use narrow/thin shaped wall partitions.
All of the partitions we have are too wide and too long or have a slant on the other side. We need smaller ones that aren't as wide or long and without a slant.
More narrow wall partition; no slant or skylight on the otherside.
More doorway partitions
Stone arches
bay windows
stained glass ceilings
fireplace with an empty cauldron/ stone hearth with a cauldron/ cookpot
Anyone think it would be cool if you could set your house orchestrion BGM to automatically switch between two tracks at 6am/pm eorzea time? Or for that matter, what if things like indoor lighting levels could do the same?
Lighting conditions vary dramatically between day and night, and zone BGMs, among other things, often get paired day and night arrangements that complement each other well. I feel like there's a lot of potential there to dramatically improve housing ambience, compared to having a single looping track.
To add to that, I would enjoy it if I could put different BGM by floor level (different song for basement, middle floor and upper floors).Anyone think it would be cool if you could set your house orchestrion BGM to automatically switch between two tracks at 6am/pm eorzea time? Since this is a really, really long thread, I'm not sure how many of these ideas have already been brought up but here goes:
1. Redesign housing districts so that there is a central common area and instanced private and FC plots. The reasoning behind this is that whenever the devs want to add more housing to meet player demand, they always have to add new wards to existing districts which apparently requires a great deal of resources. With this kind of setup, only the common area would have to be instanced to meet demand which I believe would conserve resources taken up by adding all the additional wards. Another benefit would be that a mechanism could be implemented allowing players to upgrade and renovate their spaces and potentially setting up a way for players to actually build custom-designed houses. It may also be possible to set things up so that players can take their houses with them when performing a world transfer since the plot would be an instanced space much like the Island Sanctuary. If all that weren't enough, it would also be possible to do away with lotteries and auto-demolition if this type of system were implemented.
2. Make private plots shared among all a player's characters on a world. This just seems like a no-brainer because if players are going to be restricted to a single plot per world, then it might as well be shared among all their alternate characters.
3. I know this one is likely a repeat of others' requests, but increasing the furnishing limit would be nice; at least 10 or so for the outside and another 100 for the inside would be very helpful. From what I understand, many players have unused spaces in their plots because they reach the limit quickly trying to make everything look just the way they want.
4. There's still an issue that only "Tabletop" furnishings can be placed on loft pieces and other platform-type furnishings; most likely the best way to fix this might be to add a "Stackable" trait to furnishings typically placed on the floor or reclassify loft pieces and platforms as "placeable floors".
That's all I got for right now.

yes please!
I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert, but I feel like that with the introduction of Island Sanctuary, and especially after they allowed us to place Exterior Furnishings - the excuse that instanced housing cannot be done just doesn't fly anymore. But if they don't do that then at minimum restrict housing to per account and not per character.

With the announcement of interior renovation, my hope is that this will inspire new interior layouts… for both houses and apartments.
Current Apartment/Small - “Studio”
Same as we have now.
Medium Apartment - “Loft”
Mid-size, maybe a split level with an actual built-in loft and stairs going up to it.
Large Apartment - “Penthouse”
Multiple floors, “outdoor” instanced balcony for placing outdoor furnishings and garden plots.
For house interiors, the removal of pillars is great, but maybe we could also remove windows? Maybe different layouts with different staircases, or different placement of the stairs?
For smalls in particular, I would like the option to have an attic added:
Many housing skins already look like there should be another room up there, and no reason all sizes couldn’t have the option of 3 floors. I’d gladly pay gil for a “remodeling permit” to have this!
Or in general, the option to add additional rooms in personal homes just like FC houses can add rooms, for more decorating space. Along with a personal version of an FC chest.
Players asked for a demo timer because they'd rather blame other players than Square Enix.
Please give us the option to use the old housing interiors without pillars.
This is what several of us thought we were getting in 7.1, and while the modern look is nice, it doesn't have the same character as the old styles. I like the old staircases and banisters, the old baseboards and wainscotting, and the crown molding and frieze. These give our homes personality, and we shouldn't have to give them up if we don't want pillars.
I would like to suggest partition archways again. There are already mahogany, oasis, glade, and alpine partition doors, but I am asking for door-less versions. It would really help with building out interiors when using similar partitions.
Also, speaking of current partition doors, blank versions that can have interior walls applied to them would be great as well (door-less for these too).
