I'm already not keen on the specialist stuff, but the current system allows such items to be traded via other means so making it untradable would be pointless.I would like to see some furniture, specific to specialists of each craft, untradeable for decoration for their own property.
For example, I have an office in my house, I made the upstairs a forge. I'm a BSM/ARM specialist, so I would like to be able to make some difficult to craft (not necessarily materials cost, but a high actual craft difficulty that requires a bit of skill), something like a suit of Armour, or a pair of display weapons, and show them off in my office.
I want to be able to show off my skill as a crafter and have something in my house to display for it.
If not the above, an Armour/Weapon Stand that we can display things we've made on would be great, even better if they can be interacted with for sales like a retainer on a property.
Can I get a tension lamp for housing that reproduce Odin's weather effect?
Can we please have free choice of the house interior to be Glade/Riviera/Oasis on preference?
I know it would likely be hard on the servers, but I would really like the option to upgrade my personal small cottage plot to either a medium or large at some point without having to go hunt down a new house. Having the option to simply just save up your money and then access the housing menu and select upgrade and choose what size you'd like. However, like I said it might be too much to implement. But something I would like kept in mind.

You can't just increase the size of a plot in the overworld. They have a fixed size and the entire map would need to be reworked to allow for every house to have the size of a Large.
But then you'd be stuck with the problem that they'd need to put invisible walls in the middle of your giant garden until you upgraded to max size, because otherwise you get to use more space than you payed for.
Also, we'd have only a handful of houses per area because they'd take up so much room. This sounds like a really bad idea
Unless you are talking about a TARDIS-effect, where it's bigger inside than it looks from outside.
But that would suck for the people who want to upgrade just to have a bigger garden.
Really, there is no scenario in which I see this play out well. Except for housing in which every house+garden is it's own instance, of course
But not with the current neighbourhood system.

Good point.

Many hope though that the moving feature we'll get somewhere between 3.4 and 4.0 will be fairly similar (although ofc depending on there being free plots somewhere).
As in, you pick a place you want to move to and can get right over without the trouble of having to relinquish the old plot and buying a new one.

I don't believe they've mentioned a time period for the moving feature, only that they'd be looking at some time after apartments went in. That gives them a mere eternity after 3.4 hits to implement it.Many hope though that the moving feature we'll get somewhere between 3.4 and 4.0 will be fairly similar (although ofc depending on there being free plots somewhere).

Does anyone remember, back around beta (perhaps even before) when Yoshida was talking about housing, didn't he mention something similar to Final Fantasy XIs Mogenhancement system? Basically a method to get a permanent bonus effect from decorating your house... I think he mentioned it wouldn't be as limited as XIs (which tied effects to certain furniture, so you were limited on decorating if you wanted certain effects), but I think it could be a nice justification for decorating houses... More furniture you place, more potent the bonus becomes... With apartments on their way, it's not like something like this would be unfair anymore, and I'd really like for the furniture market to be somewhat more justified and active...
Was this concept scrapped and replaced with Free Company Actions and the Aetherial Wheel? Kind of a shame if so, I think...
