Housing Ideas and Feature Requests

Not sure If suggested yet, but as i would love to see something to be able to change the music playing inside the house.
Like some kind of magical music player to change the track playing inside the house, and getting tracks to play would be special crafted items that have a chance to record music upon completion of instance.

Example if such item existed: I want track from t12 to play when i am inside private/fc house. To get recording for device, i would require crafted item/accessory that can be used to capture music. i go t12 an have a chance the music playing inside the instance to be recorded to the item/accessory upon successful completion of the duty. Now i can use that item to add the track to the player, and now i can always listen to t12 track within personal/fc house.

That is already coming, Yoshi and Soken have stated it's actually going to be a furnishing item originally from FFXI called an 'orchestrion' and it probably coming sometime after 3.2 or thereabouts. I posted the most recent info on the subject that I'm aware of in another thread which covers this in more detail. Either way, it's already planned.

On that topic, when the Orchestrion is added, please, please SE, please allow us to select tunes from the entire version 1.0 OST including the currently 'missing' tunes like Navigator's Glory and Piece of Mind, as they're some of my favourite FFXIV tracks and I miss hearing them in the game.

I'd love an option to close/open window shutters so we can choose if we want outside light to come in or not.

Minions as housing items?
How great would it be to come home to your Fat Cat, napping on the table?

Ideas I support that have already been suggested (as of this last page):
-Separate light settings per floor
-A resident minion (for private chambers, private estates and company estates all, size of house determines limit of minions)
-Partitions taking on the appearence of the current wallpaper (tired of masonwork walls outer walls but wooden inner walls (problem with this is the Oriental/Mahogany Partition Doors)
-Manor vanity (would be awesome with/without a working mirror effect)
-Indoor fountain (new idea: Primal combination furniture- requires 2+ primal items to craft, i.e. Levi's barb & Bismarck's bayleen for the indoor fountain)
-Banner/shield to display the company's crest indoors
-Control of building's position on the plot (would love to turn the house so the back was towards the wall (Mist 28) & the front door looking to the sunset)

New ideas (or ideas that may have been previously mentioned on pages I skipped reading through):
-Manor canopy bed (seriously, I would toss out both my double feather bed & riviera canopy bed for this; could also require a new item like Manor fabric to make, available only from endgame retainer ventures)
-The ability to adjust the appearence (poses/clothes and ability to choose minor customization options like in character creation) for the original housing NPCs (not fair that I have to deal with employing Raen refugees in my cottage (supplier/mender/maid) rather than some of my fellow Xaela)
-An expansion in the number of "kitchen" furnishings; loving the manor oven/counter, now I just need a "manor pantry" or "manor icebox" to store food in to complete the ensemble
-Stuffed Primals (would have a bed set aside just for a stuffed version of my favorite primals, requiring their HM drop & both Thav silk+leather)
-The ability to stack the shipping crates/wine barrels
-A change in how the support beams were established in the 2nd floor of mansions (hard time keeping track of the middle (width-wise) of the room when the supports aren't centered and I'm not using a grid-patterned floor)
-A moogle-inspired targeting dummy ("where do i find the moogle masterpiece?!?@1" x4000000000 back in the first week of HW...)
-Landscape paintings the same size as the political leaders' paintings (for that matter, why wasn't "Enquire Within" done at the same size as well?"
-Wall-mounted weapons rack (could actually go so far as to make it so that, instead of a universal rack that can hold any weapon, you have to acquire the 2.x relic bits from WP to make the correct rack)

I was actually thinking about this after having shortened the bathroom space in my cottage's basement from a 2x3 area (using the grid of the masonwork flooring) to be 2x2 & use that spare 1x2 to make some servants' quarters - I'm thinking that our characters' bodies are so evolved that, unlike all the other plebes in the game, we digest 100% of everything we eat and thus have no waste material.

(By the way, if you place the retainer's bell close enough to a door partition & use it, the door actually opens up as if the retainer is coming through the door)
