Create a character based off of ff game characters

Hello I am asking if it is ok to build a character that is based off of the originals from the previous ff games, for example Cecil from ff4, is it ok to also look like him as well? I ask because I plan to make a character based off a Boss from one of the ff games. I am asking so I don't risk getting into trouble by SE for building something like that due to copywrite stuff and such, I am paranoid when it comes to copywrite, so yea... D:

Considering SE has just added the actual hairstyles for Lightning and Snow from FFXIII into character creation, I don't see there being too much of an issue. The only restriction I know of is actual names - there's an embargo on directly using a character name from a past FF title - character creation will throw up an error if you try creating a 'Cloud Strife' for instance. Having said that though, there's an old meme from FFXI about there being more Sephiroth clones in FFXI than in FFVII, so people often use creative ways of naming their character to get around this restriction.

However, on the other hand, the Terms of Service to the game specifically state you're not allowed to make or name a character that emulates a character from another of SE's or a third party's 'intellectual properties', which kind of contradicts adding Snow and Lightning's hairstyles and costumes into the game, as specificed here:

3.5 Naming Right. You may not use any name or other intellectual property belonging to SQUARE ENIX or any other third party in your use of the Game (for example, naming a character after a celebrity, company, product or superhero).

So there you have it, technically you're not allowed to make a player character based on another character from another series/FF title, but it would be wise to ask a GM or one of the Community Reps about this to clarify this before going ahead.

Don't worry, I don't plan to name her by their names, she will just have sum features close to their appearance.
It's more the looks I am paranoid about, not the name. I already have a name for her...
If it's really a big deal I will delete her if necessary...

Update: I decided to give her blue hair and green eyes to evade the discord.

Doesn't help that Stark comes up on the random name generator when you're making a Hyur. Given that there are many, many people running around with last names and/or first names of FF characters, celebrities, and characters from other games, tv shows, movies, etc.... I don't think this rule is enforced strictly.

OP, I doubt they care if your character looks like another character. It's kinda hard not to, in most cases since we don't have THAT many customization options.

Hopefully with vanity slots we will be able to also dye that vanity armour and REALLY get some variety.
