NPC's provide materials for crafting quests

I miss how in 1.0 if you were on a crafting quest, and needed to craft something like 5 pairs of shoes, the NPC would give you enough materials to craft the items, plus some extra for additional exp. I appreciated this, and it made for a more lore-friendly experience in game. I am wondering if we can make a change to have this put back in place?

For example: if I am in camp Horizon doing crafting leves, and I see that they require materials that I do not have on hand - I really don't feel like spending the time/money to travel back to town, then to buy the materials, then head back to craft/deliver. I'd rather be able to get the materials either from the NPC issuing the quest or the NPC requesting the items. I mean, what kind of jerk expects someone to get the materials for something, do all the work, and then be paid less than the cost of crafting the items as a reward?

just level your gathering jobs with your crafting. If you are working on Armor or Blacksmith then Minor gathers most those items. If you are doing cooking, alchemy, carpenter, etc. then Botanist gets most of the materials. Then once you go to a camp for leves the first time figure out what materials are popular (wheat, iron ore, etc.) then I just go gather a stack or two of these materials, craft a crap load of that item and you can just sit at the NPC and turn in the quest over and over again.

As far as immersion goes, I think this way is more realistic. If you have a plumber come to your house do they expect you to have all the supplies? No, they buy them at the store or rig something with what they have in the truck. I also think this was meant as a gil sink for the items you cannot gather or for ppl who do not lvl gathering.

Assuming this is considered, wouldn't Squeenix have to utterly murder the rewards from the tradecraft leves to keep things balanced? Assuming the current experience and gil rewards are kept while being allowed to do said leves for free would probably have nasty consequences.
