Finally saw the inside of a house.. completely over it....

So I went to see one of the three houses in Uldah to see what it's like and the outsides are nice and all, but the inside is INSTANCED?! So basically you can't see if someone is coming over and hanging outside.

So its a glorified mog room with the ability to decorate the outside.

Not so worried about it anymore.

Don;t even want one and especially not for those stupid prices. Should be free for an instanced house. At least in AION, Ultima and other games you actually can walk in and out of the house and it adds a sense of really being in a neighborhood. This way you will never know who's around or when a neighbor gets home.

*Yawn*

Now to peacefully enjoy the other parts of the game without this distraction.

I definitely miss the days of SWG where you had entire player-run cities with completely uninstanced housing.

But alas, instancing is all the rage in the MMO world right now, so I'm not surprised at all to know that the insides of the houses are instanced. I would have actually been rather shocked if they weren't.

Why do I have an instantly low opinion of anyone who bothers to type *yawn* to try to dismiss something?

It would have been nice to see non-instanced housing but I think it makes sense why they might not have implemented it. Were AION houses very complex? Certainly we know why Ultima Online could handle non-instanced houses.

But this also means they can easily create player housing thru the Inn rooms in the cities like mog houses. A housing exterior is pointless really.

Sorry just not what I envisioned when they first ran it, don't recall them ever saying it was instanced so i guess I assumed it would not be.

Especially since they kept referencing to the housing in Ultima.

Aion was an instanced area with open homes fully capable of being decorated inside and out.

They also offered and decoratable studio/apartment for cheap until u amassed your fortune.

Well I can see where you'd be disappointed if they were saying that. I agree non-instanced stuff is a lot cooler but who knows if they were afraid of some technical limitations later on? The instanced housing in EQ2 didn't bother me and most of the better houses did cost money if I remember right.

Oh well easy to move on until player housing, hope they just do apartments, waste of server space to have an instance within and instance just for some outside land decor.

I agree id like to look in the house and go inside and see whats up im saving for my private house and working for the fc house. prices are pretty outlandish so save those gils
