The world needs a little more danger: suggestions ahead.

I miss the notorious monsters from FFXI, because fighting was a marvelous challenge...here in FFXIV it's just a FATE that involves no strategy, but it still is kinda fun to just be whacking something. That said, I think when a fate is failed, and that fate includes a notorious monster, that notorious monster should be set loose in that entire zone, making it hard to traverse. You would still have a mount so it's not like it' game breakingly difficult. Ideas?

A bit of danger would be welcome in open world areas. More often than not I don't even pause to notice what's hitting me, I just keep going cause I know it can't kill me.
In XI that was what you did when you wanted to blood port.

Some open world NMs, or even just areas that actually have mobs that pose a genuine threat. Areas with levelcap+10~15 mobs that we can explore, and possibly find some random treasure coffers and what not in them. Really anything to add to that excitement when exploring that is just missing now.

I wish that we could get ambushed when running about. Instead of dodging enemies or just running through them Id like to turn a corner and have 20 of them waiting to ambush me.

You guys are gluttons for punishment!

I'd be happy with a mix between FFXI and Current FFXIV, but I don't actually dislike at all how they have it now.

After playing XI for 8ish years, I welcome the freedom to move around the world without having to worry about monitoring sneak/invis or having to worry about true sight mobs.

I don't think it should be everywhere, but being able to walk into a beastmen "stronghold" and ignore every beastman present while I go to grab a chest or get to a fate spot seems a little ...
    ... too casual.

For instance, I'm going to get the chest for a relic, I'm getting an item that is for a i80 weapon, why should this not be a spot where I'm actually at risk. So far the only time I even pay attention is if one of them is still attacking me when I get to the chest, and then it's just a few seconds while I kill it. Poof ... done, too easily.

I agree with practically everything here, and I'm not even level 50 yet. As soon as I got my own chocobo, I could easily uncover all the maps; the only thing that would get me occasionally was heavy (I'm a bit squishy as a WHM). I'm still desperately looking for a real challenge. There have been some situations that were mildly challenging; but, as it is, I was more scared as a lv20 in Valkurm Dunes in FFXI than as a lv20 in Coerthas Central Highlands here.

1st make the Grand Companies alignment fall apart, 2 make certain leveling areas PvP /PVE areas. 3) raise the drops in those areas or gil/reward at the same time make the PvP about GCs. 4) no one can loot ur body when u die but they get wolf marks.

I think making some zones more PVP/PVE friendly with better rewards for both type of player would make it more interesting if people want it NOT so safe. The fate grind is a bad example simply cause that part of the game has pretty much dried up and consider all the fates that run 24/7 that no one does. What then ? If you say then the main boss goes and attacks Uld or Lim, or Grand, it sucked- we had that in Warhammer Online and that design was a fun idea but a miserable loooooooong drawn out PvP instance that most grew weary of and just quit.

Start the pvp/pve zones in the 30s just like the arenas. Any that are out of level range should get <sync>'d. Then they would have to creat a standard of matching the best possible gear of that zone to a higher levels "temporary" gear.

Someday I will find a PvP oriented game that will be as much fun as Dark Age of Camelot was in its heyday.. <still looking>

FFXIV is not open-world PvP based, not will it ever be (Yoshi made that quite clear early on in development that he was wanting to keep PvP separate from the main (PvE) game. And I disagree when people say there's 'no danger' in the world. Switch to a level 1 class (or hell, strip off your fancy DL gear and relic weapon) and walk through the nearest beastman stronghold or Garlean outpost and see how long you last.

I have to agree with Enkidoh this time. Eorzians killing each other? That just seems wrong and goes against everything we played through in the story. I also remember when gamers used to make their own rules and create their own fun and amusement. Beat Zelda 1 without getting the sword? Nuzlocke challenges in Pokemon? How about try beating all the Primals in this game with a team of 4-8 WHMs only?

I may have been raised on older games when I ask, if you beat the game already, what more do you want? (may edit that out later XD)
