Please change your Password...again

does anyone else have this problem? Almost every time I log in to FF14 it has me change my password due to "unusual account activity". Im not doing anything Unusual. The only thing I can think is that i use MIFI wifi for my main internet access and sometimes im at home, and sometimes at my GFs or down the street at a friends. But it doesnt always have me change it then, mainly just when i have been at home, playing a few times a day. the second or third day it starts making me change my password. somethings two or three times in a row. Its getting really annoying.

Now yes, i know the reason behind it. I understand about security. Im just as annoyed by people doing illegal things. I was lucky enough to have my account hacked and cleaned out back when i played WOW (and comeon, we all played WOW right lol)

im just saying, im running out of passwords to use. it seems a little over-reactive.

It does this whenever you log in from a different IP address than the last. Use an authenticator to have it stop requesting password changes.

Thank you for this information. I had no idea it was caused by my IP change. Just got my new router/modem yesterday and had to reset my password as well. I was kinda confused about why, but this clears up the confusion, so many thanks.

Yea geting the same problem im on ps3 and i have static ip adress so i dont get why its asking me to change it everytime

Best to ask SE exactly what the problem is. It might be your location swapping, maybe not. Perhaps they can disable it. Would a one time password reduce/eliminate it.

If you think of hacked accounts from SEs perspective they would probably deal with hundreds of these so if one little thing would reduce that then it's not an over reaction. Less time dealing with hacked accounts means more time answering tickets about other issues.

yah. its an annoyance. but a little one and something that will probably happen less and less as the game is more refined. ill put up with it. it just REALLY got on my nerves after the 3 time in two days.
I do want an authenticator. Having problems getting one where i live, but ill get one eventually. thanks for the Replies everyone.

There's a free authenticator app available for phones if you can get it.
