Do you guys get commended a lot?

Haven't been getting commended a lot even though I've done a fairly good job on these dungeons.

well our good work is hard to notice just like our bad work so we got that going for us... which is nice.

I get commendations fairly often, even with me being super quiet.

Life of a DPS indeed. You probably wont be commended unless a smarter player notices how you sleep, bind, re-apply DoTs or stun. Besides that, youve got a whole lot working against you. Best way to do it is to speak @ beginning of dungeon, explain boss fights/certain situations, speak @ end of dungeon. ive gotten 3 commendations on both my tank and healer, but im not sure if I've even gotten 2 as DPS (monk)

guildhest probably the best way to get commendations as a dps. i did tank chimera in cutter's cry better than the tank the other day though and i did not get commended for that :s

The only time I get commendations fairly is in WP DF runs because I'm somewhat good at doing really good AoEing and making the run faster without taking agro. As a BLM I don't have much that can be useful as Bind is essentially useless and everyone else is too busy AoEing for me to sleep anything.

I say fairly because I get random commendations for what seems like no reason what so ever. It could be that someone thought I was nice enough or that they just didn't like the other 2 players.

I get far more in comparison when I'm on my PLD. I often get 3 each run unless I make a mistake or 2, in which case I still somehow manage to get 1 the majority of the time.

This is what I try and do and I get at least one commendation almost every run, even on a damage dealer.

FIVE keys to commendations!
1.) Say "Hello" or some greeting at the beginning
2.) Crack a joke at some point
3.) Compliment another player or the group at some point ("Man we killed that fast!" or "Yay, you're keeping me alive without using all your mana!")
4.) When someone screws up, be supportive ("I died in that exact same spot the first 5 times I was here")
5.) Hang out for a few seconds at the end so you have TIME to get commendations! So many times people leave before I can even click a commendation for them...

Follow these 5 steps and I guarantee the commendations will flow your way. Otherwise you'll get a full refund for the price you paid for this advice.

Ive gotten most of my Commendations so far as a Monk ... I've even gotten 3 at once on my DRG.

I've received 2 commendations.
Had a Pally in the group the other night who was SO fishing for commendations... it was a bit cheezy.
He didn't get one.

I usually get at least 1 per dungeon, a lot of the time 2. I'm generally friendly, congratulate people on loot/boss kill/levels, and make sure to thank everyone for the run at the end. Being pleasant and playing well will usually net you at least 1.
