Naaaah 8 should be next, best final boss themeSSS in the series, one of the most epic end fights in the entire saga and one of the best final dungeons with a villain that could very well work.

Ultemica phase 1 - Premonition

Ultimecia phase 2 (Griever Primal is summoned) - The Legendary Beast

Ultimecia phase 3 fight - The Extreme

Ultimecia's Castle - The Castle

A 3 part Ultimecia/Griever fight trying to prevent her from compressing all of time and space so that she can become a god. I can easily see her manipulating and controlling characters in the story to advance her goals much like the Ascians

Also, Necron who is death itself:

In Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Ultimania - File 1: Character Book, Necron is described as, "a being awakened by Kuja's fear, despair, and hatred, which called out to it as he learned of his mortality, just as his ambitions were within reach".

Since we have "materia" in our world theory could be that a new kind of materia has appeared that could benefit Sephiroth/Jenova and use it to destroy our world and others.

Kind of funny I haven't seen any possible mention of this idea.

Any character in Final Fantasy that has to deal with time travel can be in this game.

Both Sephiroth and Kefka don't use time.

Gilgamesh does, so it make sense he can be here. Ultimecia and Squall could be here. Gogo as well, hopefully to teach us Mime/blue mage.

Seriously a Sephiroth appearance is too far fetched. Even if Cloud Appeared in this world already from FFT which both Eorza and FFT are tied to Ivalice, doesn't explain why Areith was were as part of the quest. Likely just fan service and nothing more.

As far as Major Boss fights in the future, id like to see Diabolos, Gilgamesh, Cuja (FF Boss Fight from Super Mario RPG), Emperor, Doom Train, Omega Weapon.
For minor boss fights in new dungeons/ hm dungeons, id like to see Materia Keeper(FF7), Anima (FFX), Zeromus, Hades,

Id also like to see Ruby Weapon return in Sagolli Desert as part of the Gold Saucer Patch.
