Not getting SC is just going to gimp you in some respects. It's the best x-class skill imo. E4E is really good for group pulls in dungeons and is even better when coupled with SS. E4E is the only x-class skill that is over look-able next to blizzard II however since it isn't necessary to have and is more for convenience. At least get lv26THM and acquire SC; you won't regret it!

Swiftcast I think is too important to pass up, Virus is the other important one, E4E although helpful isn't quite as important as those other 2 (If you don't have a sch/smn in HM titan, you'll learn to love Virus for when mountain buster is coming)

Get swiftcast. Period. Mobile heals and/or instant medica 2 follow by a medica/whatever is very helpful in making your job easier/more effective.Or divine seal swiftast medica 2 for that matter. Someone died? Dont spend 6 seconds(is it 6? 4got the time honestly with how much i swiftcast it) reviving some1. In 8 mans, you can rotate with other healer on swiftcast revives as well. Tank need a little extra defense in middle of fight? You can swiftcast stoneskin, divine seal, pop a regen, and heal him up quick with your buffed heals.

Get in Duty Roulette and level it up to 26. takes little time. And since dungeon exp got buffed in general, you'll be leveling even faster. You can fate too of course, i just cant stand it anymore.

And of course, in a perfect world everyone would dodge everything and only get hit by unavoidable aoe damage you'd never need it, but the world isn't perfect.

Leveling every class to 13~15 is a matter of doing your lv1 and lv2 hunting logs (or what you can safely kill of it with chocobo) and your 1/5/10 class quest. 15-16 is a longer level... but 16-20 should be taken care of with low level dungeons (plenty of ppl running with random finder now). I don't feel there's a reason anyone should *not* have class actions under level 20. That being said there are a few *key* actions you get after that.

Swiftcast (lv26 Thm) - if you can set this skill, you want this skill it is that good. You can live without it but you've never lived until you have it.
Stoneskin (lv35 Conj) - Takes a while to get, but this is a damned nice utility spell.
Quelling Strikes (lv34 Arch) - Takes a while to get, but it's a nice thing to have. Pop it for hate resets or to go all out sooner, less important in 2.1 than it was.
Provoke (lv22 Glad) - If you're a War and haven't gotten this you're just wrong
Invigorate (lv22 Lnc) - If you use TP and don't have this, you're wrong
Blood for Blood (lv34 Lnc) - While you can live without it, it is a nice damage bump, even with the bat hit from 2.1
Awareness (lv34 Glad) - easy to live without, but it DOES help. Especially after 2.1 changes
Mantra (lv?? Pug) - easy to live without, but it DOES help. Don't be afraid to go after it.
Eye for an Eye (lv34 Arc) - Sure it's not -10% dmg... but it has a pretty good chance to mitigate damage from a group, and if it procs on a boss that's just so much nicer. There's no real reason not to have it.

TL;DR :: Can you live without **insert sub-skill here** (swiftcast) yes. Do I think it's silly to expect to participate in end game content without it, yes.

If you don't have swiftcast people will just have a go at you trust me it's really not that hard to get anymore with the duty roulette. It's good for fights like Titan and I expect even more so with the extreme primals so if you want to do more end game things it's better that you pick it up.

Lazy and inconsiderate is the best way to describe a healer without swift cast. Garuda EX, deaths happen (lolmelee), Ifrit EX, Ultima HM, these are all fights where it's easy for someone to blink and be dead but it's very possible to raise and carry on np. Turning up without swift cast is like turning up in a bikini. You're short changing the rest of the group and making them pull weight that should be yours. Of course it's doable but it makes it harder and more time consuming than it needs to be, especially whilst learning the encounter in the first place.

I wouldn't even worry about dungeon grinding unless you can tag along with a tank for instant queues, just got AE some fates down, it's an evening or two's effort tops.

This exactly. Leveling THM might be one of the most boring things I've done in the game but it was well worth it. It's impossible to run content 100% of the time with no one dying. When new dungeons come out and people are learning them (even your static groups), people will die left and right and swiftcast ressing them it insanely useful. I can't even begin to imagine how many parties, swiftcast has saved to date. Whether it's from ressing that one key dps to put you over the edge in a dps race because someone was silly/ lagged for a moment. Or whether it's getting that AoE heal off just seconds before it could've wiped the whole party.

In short, get swiftcast. It's a few hours work for a whole lot of awesomeness.

If you're satisfied with being mediocre at your job, then by all means - don't worry about cross class skills.

But if you aren't satisfied, and you want to strive to be the best healer your group can bring, then work to get those cross-class skills. They do make a difference.

op if you are playing with bads that die to simple mechanics and cry for swiftcast res, dont feel guilty. A lot of the players i ran across that drummed the swiftcast bell in were pretty poor players anyway, so doesnt surprise me why they were so adamant on swiftcast, you are not their daddy your not there to carry them.

If it pains you to lvl for cross class then you are welcome to play the game how it pleases you, see how it works out, then you can lvl up another job for it.

And I would watch who you would take advise from, theres a lot of bad players/healers and they are easy to find.

Anyway best of luck with your conjurer journey, its indeed fun and interesting one.

Perhaps swiftcast is not needed if the party is good and everyone knows what they are doing, but do you always get parties like that? There are fights where you have to dodge aoe so much, you will never be able to get a raise off at the normal casting time. It has saved my party from wiping a number of times. It took me a long time to get around to getting it, but leveling thm to 26 does not take as long as it seems. It's a personal choice, but I have found it very valuable.
